Didn’t think my comment was complimentary to the player.

I do think he failed to develop, coaches should be observing exactly what you point out and making the player aware. And he had only the Gulutzan regime, that were crap coaches, eventually dead man walking and the team pretty much quit on.

The expression “Under pressure, you sink to the level of your preparedness” comes to mind.

You can say “nobody told you to turn the puck over” but that’s not coaching. That’s bitching.

Preparing a team so the players know what their options are before they get the puck is coaching.

I just won't go that far.

I think the team is playing a better system now, but the basics of puck protection and managing the puck wouldn't be lost on any NHL coaches, including last year's group.

I do wonder if he's not a Peter's system kind of player. One of the few who actually succeeded under GG. Even if you want to forget the 4 goal night that bumped him to 17 on the season, he was solid defensively and did create a bunch.

Maybe it's just taking him a bit longer to get the x's and o's of the new system.

He's too good to be mired in this poor start. I have faith he will turn it around.

And I don't get Derek Ryan, he's just as meh as Janko has been.

Can he not go to the farm without waivers anymore? Maybe Stella can get her groove back down there with top line minutes.

Yeah they're similar in differentials, but Ryan is a "quieter" player ... less happens both ways. Plus he's been good in the face off circle.

I haven't been feeling quite right for the last year.

Something was off. It was like I was living in a fog. I tried to describe this feeling to my family but they either couldn't, or wouldn't, understand. The loneliness was the worst part. Like nobody understood my indescribable suffering. They soon became tired of my constant obsession, and I was alienated from family gatherings. Apparently I was a bad influence on the younger children. I missed birthday parties, weddings, and holidays. This last Thanksgiving was rock bottom. They cooked two turkeys; one for everybody, and then delivered one to me. I ate a full 10lb turkey by myself over the course of the next week.

I can't count the number of doctors that I went to. Specialists kept coming up with rare and unusual diseases. Fibromyalgia, Lyme Disease, early onset dementia. It was like everyone had an opinion, but nobody had the answer. I wanted to walk right out of those offices, but I listened. Listening was all I could do. Because nothing seemed to help.

I changed up my bedtime routine. I started flossing after brushing my teeth. It was a little tough to get used to at first, but I managed. No cavities in a whole year, so I think it was effective. I even went from waxed to unwaxed floss, to really shock my system. And it sure was a new experience. But it didn't help the overall picture.

I stopped exercising. I knew sitting on a couch was bad for me, but I just had no interest in it. Even watching athletics became difficult. I used to love watching Flames games and reading opinions and analysis of the team on CP, but even that became unappealing. I would log in from time to time to see what what going on with the team, but nothing felt like it did before. I longed for the familiarity.

Until the breakthrough. While checking on CP today, I noticed a thread. "Janko Troubles". I didn't think much of it at first. Such a simple title. But I clicked the link, and it brought me to dozens of debating posts about the enigma of Mark Jankowski. And what started as a glimmer of hope soon rose within me to euphoria. For too long, I had been living without healthy doses of Jankowski debate. I can't believe it took me so long to realize that this was all that had been missing in my life.

Thank you CP for giving me my life back.

Scintillating stuff.

Would you like a discussion about whether the refs are still punishing the Flames for the Wideman incident even though it was years ago?

Ryan’s also 6-7 years older and getting paid twice as much.

Oh, well still better than the Oiler's first overall that year.
Vasilevskiy would have been nice who, if we never traded down, we could have snagged before TB.

Hindsight is 20/20, I know.

Too many great dmen and some strong forwards from that draft for Janko to really ever have an opportunity to claim that title.

As much as I did like Feaster he said a lot of stupid things sometimes.

The one thing with Jankowski though is he is a big body and a lot of the time bigger guys take longer to develop. They need more time to grow into their body and realize what they can do in the league with their size, and reach advantages.

He is nearing 25 so most bigger players start coming into their own at that age. It's looking like he is regressing a little bit but I still think at worst he is a 4th line center with some offensive ability.

He reminds me of a long line of players that were here and then gone. Dustin Boyd, Chuck Kobasew, Oleg Saprykin,

He’s lazy and I think he doesn’t see it . Peters will drive it home but it may be too late if his give a #### meter doesn’t start moving the needle.

At least a guy like Bennett contributes in other ways that we can see and is noticeably better.

Saprykin scored an OT winner in the SCF, so If he's being compared to Janko then I'm cool with that at the very least.

Holy smokes guys! Tales of a 4th grade nothing!

Chill! Relax! Welcome to a good life!

We have truly become a fan base in search of problems and complaints.

I understand the concerns over goaltending. I am betting that Smith gets his game figured out.

Jankowski will score. Trust me. Sophomore slump and new coach. Also late bloomer.

Janko I figure will bottom out at a Stephane Yelle type. Maybe too heady of praise but you cannot go wrong with that type of center or player.

I used to think he had Backlund type upside, but after watching him a bit more against NHL competition I'm not sure he's able to play that tight defensive game as a center because while he's a smooth skater, his agility is lacking. I still think there's a good player though, and I firmly believe that if he were moved to the wing and relieved of his defensive responsibilities he could throw down a 25+ goal season. I prefer him over Frolik but I just don't think he's one of the three or even four best options at C for this roster. I also think his size could help on defensive breakouts as a winger.

Jankowski needs to learn how to use his size better. he's got great hands, good instinct and could be an impact player if he'd just use his size more.

I think I know what you mean but maybe not. I think he needs to assert himself more - play harder. Do you mean hit guys?

Regardless, he took a big step last game IMO. He was determined and assertive. I want to see him continue to defend hard, skate hard, pass the puck hard and shoot it hard. Just be intense but not tense if you know what I’m saying. Get in there!!
