Because he's a mediocre coach.

Isn't this what a lot of us were worried about when he was signed? Maybe the first 5 months was just the new coach bump and it's been a downward spiral since the all star break. If so, really unfortunate as there were coaches available with much better pedigrees.

Pretty soon they'll be able to get Babcock...

those guys better start playing better if they want raises

It doesn't make sense since what they've been doing hasn't been working for quite some time. But then when he tries to change things out, he never gives it a real chance, and ends it after a shift or period. As if he expects instant results. If that's not happening, then why is he so keen sticking with a lineup that's proving it's not working.
The roster is certainly the main blame, but Peters isn't helping the manner by trying to give different lineups are a real chance. Sometimes it can take games to get going.
He should try new lineups that he figures should ideally work, and be willing to stick with for the long term if it does click.

I'm done with Babcock and his coaching tree. All overrated and the "I'm the smartest man in the room" approach wears thin on all involved. Whispers are players in Toronto don't like the coach and I'm getting the feeling it's happening in Calgary as well. When Peters left Carolina is was a breath of fresh air for that organization as they haven't looked back.

What Hathaway did was inexcusable. Milan would never.

For all those insisting Lindholm would be perfect at center - it's certainly worth a try, but does he have any sustained success there that makes this such a sure bet?

Because Gaudreau and Monahan need Lindholm that badly.
Basically this all boils down to Gaudreau playing like garbage.
What’s the solution? There’s no easy answer when your star winger is playing scared, soft, careless hockey.

That doesn't seem to be working. It's not about what is best for Gaudreau and Monahan.

Long term it can’t be. But in the short term if you wanna get Johnny going? Maybe he does need to be with our best two two-way forwards.

You know how every year the Flames management say they need to get faster?
Then you see them play the Avalanche and how fast they are and the Flames have no answer.
Speed is today's NHL and the Flames do not have it.

Brad Treliving is a bad GM and the overseer of a bad hockey team.
This board continues to give him a unworthy pass and as long as he is the GM first round exits will be the ceiling for this team.

Brad Treliving is a good GM and the overseer of a okay hockey team. Who is also unlucky to have even more great trades nixed last second.

Does Gio get a pass as captain?
The Team has significantly under performed expectations while he has been captain.
He leads by example, but does not seem to rally the troops.
He does not seem to be mentioned in taking any responsibility for the team's play or making any extra push to keep them playing well or consistent.
Are Backlund and Monahan alternate captains to try to make them better or to make the team better? Are these the guys that lead the team from within?
The Flames team that exceeded all expectations (2014-15) with a first round win against Vancouver had Wideman Russell and Hudler as alternate captains and Gio on IR when the team played much better than the sum of their parts.

I always thought that the Kadri one wasn't his fault, but the Zucker trade felt like he played the waiting game too long and got caught with his pants down.
