I don't see how this is any different from the MCU using a more popular character (Iron-Man) to prop up the Spider-Man films? If they released a straight BOP movie with no Harley it would probably flop hard, the general audience don't know who Black Canary or Huntress are.

DC can’t do anything right.
They are making Gotham City Sirens, it was announced, but pushed back until after BoP.

Iron Man didn't take over the Spider-Man films, though. He was used sparingly. It's kind of like how they used Batman in Suicide Squad. This movie, from that trailer, is reading as "The Harley Quinn Movie", which is ok, 'cause she's awesome and interesting and can pull it off.

But they are calling it Birds of Prey, which is a bit misleading. I don't think that Batgirl/Huntress/BC would be as much of a flop as you think, due to the Batgirl name recognition. But there are some others. They could even have gone with Katana/Huntress/BC, to 'introduce' Huntress and BC.

It's just an odd choice. I get the idea of using HQ to prop up the movie, I'm pretty sure that's exactly what they are doing, but they seem to be overusing the character in that role.

There are a ton of 'Harley solo' things they could have done. And if Robbie wanted a team up style movie, something with Harley and the Gang of Harleys would have been a good take at it, possibly injecting some humor into the DCEU.
What I meant is that DC isn’t shy about reusing characters. We’ve seen how many Batman, Superman, Joker, Flash, etc iterations in the last decade? Some of them on tv but point is they don’t seem shy about preserving characters to avoid overuse. And aren’t they making a Batgirl movie?

I but I agree, it’s just weird to use the name of an established superhero team as the name for what appears to be a HQ solo movie.

To Nadal’s point, it’d be more like if they called the Suicide Squad movie Justice League.

Good points, maybe Spider-Man wasn't the best example but this has been done before. Captain America 3 became a team up movie that Iron Man became a big part of, and introduced Black Panther and Spider-Man. Also Days of Future Past was more of a kitty pride story but Wolverine took over in the movie. Both are some of the best Comic book movies ever.

That looks brilliant!

What is with Guy Ritchie and Charlie Hunnam though? Last time....well, lets just say that last time did not go well...

Man so many good movies coming out, lots that aren't comic book related either which is actually a nice breather.

It was filmed in Nova Scotia on 35mm film.

Beasts of the Southern Wild is one of my favorite movies of the last 10 years. Trailer for Wendy came out today and is by the same director:

You know...with how fast that Sonic movie was "fixed" I do wonder if this was part of the plan all along.

Release a horrible trailer that they knew was going to generate horrible backlash, then use that publicity to generate actual hype for the movie once you release the trailer that has the "fixed" Sonic.

I'm just not sure how they could correct that, and re-animate a whole movie as fast as they did. And I know for me personally I am paying way more attention to this movie now than I would have if this was just the first trailer that was released.

If that was the actual plan, they only had to animate a trailer and could have kept going with the "real" movie.

I don't think that's the case though. As gross at the old one looked, it still felt like it was part of the world it was interacting with. This feels more tacked on.

Looks like a mess of various levels of bad CGI. They couldn’t even get a real dog for at least some scenes?
