It only makes sense to me if the Flames never intended to buyout Neal now or in the future and if they assume both will simply be dead space for the rest of their contracts.
...or the Flames doctors' have identified that Lucic can go on LTIR.

Oh I read sureloss’ post saying he’d waived it altogether. Maybe that’s wrong. The waived NMC sand retained salary makes this an easy win for Calgary. If his NMC stays it’s dumb as hell. Better?

Frankly, unless we are getting a first rounder out of the Oilers, or unless we immediately flip Lucic onto some other sucker, serious thinking about Brad Trelviing's future needs to be considered. Because as it stands, this already looks like the second worst trade in franchise history. ...and I can't stand James Neal.
