Not looking at points and some advanced stats actually have Lucic as better than Neal over the last two seasons when looking at isolated impact away from linemates.
My guess is Flames feel Lucic is better suited for the 4th line, and fills a hole that they need from a physical perspective.

Ah geez. Well at least Lucic adds something to the team, which we needed(some toughness). Neal was complete non factor last year and is near as slow.

Well, really assuming that the contract details pan out favourably for the Flames, this really kills two birds with one stone. Get rid of Neal and add some more bulk and toughness without losing any offence. The fact is that every team is trying to get bigger after the Blues win.

Seriously? A ton of chicken littles in here thought the world was going to end if we started our regular line up against the Oilers in game 82 because of what Lucic was going to do to our stars.

If you are talking fighting wise - not sure why you'd include Tkachuk over Bennett as Tkachuk is not much of a fighter.

I can’t imagine that we would have been worse last year with Lucic on the roster instead of Neal, but we would have been a little tougher. This isn’t the best way to replace the loss of Hathaway’s toughness but it might not be so bad so long as Neal doesn’t rebound. It’s not as if Lucic can get much worse.
