Default Flames - how to cure the rot for 2019/20

This team is now 2-12 in it's last 14 playoff games. How to cure the rot???

1) I think we have to get rid of the gutless and lazy

Monahan, Janko, Neal

2) We to trade defensive depth for help up front - we need to trade one from column Left and one from column Right

Giordano Brodie
Hanifin Andersson
Valimaki Hamonic
Kylington Stone

3) Have to acquire a franchise center for Johnny. Also need a second line RW. Trade chips include Monahan and two defensemen.

I think we had the best regular season in a long time, led 3/5 playoff games with 3 minutes to go so we shouldn’t be targeting our top line center or one of the best penalty killers in the NHL.

We should also at least wait until the game ends to run people out of down.

At the start of the season if you said 3rd in the Pacific with a 1st round loss I would have said I would be disappointed but it shows progress in the right direction.

It’s only because the regular season was so good that this is so frustrating.

What about the goaltending situation? Could give Smith and Rittitch another year, but I'm sure we'd all be more comfortable finding a true bonafide starter.

Have to expect some big moves at the draft. Treliving seems to like that move. Have to think we’ve seen the last of Brodie and Frolik for sure.

Stuck with Neal but Brodie, Monahan and to a lesser extent Kylington might grab some off-season goodies

Is tomorrow the day we find out Monahan has to have 4 surgeries again? I almost gotta hope his soft, slow, disinterested-looking play is a result of injury, otherwise it’s even more discouraging.

-Trade Noah Hanifin for a forward. Valimaki is already better and IMO Kylington is too which makes him redundant on that left side. Not just basing on this series, felt this way all season.

- Move Sam Bennett to center and probably first line center. Get him linemates that can play at his level and pull him up so he can pull them up.

- Get rid of Jankowski, Neal, Stone, and Frolik for cap space.

- Peters and his staff need to be that much better next year. They were not good enough down the stretch. That's really the truth.

Playing with gaudreau has helped inflate his stats. I say trade him while his value is high. I agree i dont know what to expect in return but i would try to play lindy as center with gaudreau and maybe try trading for a winger

I think Folik, Janko and Brodie are out this offseason. Smith may be back after this playoff display. If not I expect Tree to bring in another vet. Like Halak.

Might sound crazy but I don't think Peters can get it done. He rode a crazy hot first line and steller tending from Rittich and then coasted and changed absolutley nothing as the Flames started to falter when the games got tighter. He waited until Game 5, down 3 to 1 to make any changes to this team. He also has zero intensity. When the Flames went down 3-0 he called a timeout and just giggled to himself.

Carolina is doing way better without him, and I think the Flames would as well.

The Brooklyn Dodgers aren’t around any more so I think it’s time Flames fans adopted their mantra: Wait Til Next Year!

The Dodgers didn’t blow up their team and eventually got over their playoff choking and won a World Series. Maybe one day the same will happen to the Flames.

Move on from smith. Go with rittich and see if you can get one of the other good or decent UFas this summer.

Trade brodie to Toronto for kadri.

Jankowski for whatever we can get for him.

Johnny gets a dietitian and leg day every day all offseason. Monahan does this but wrist/ arm strength and speed instead. And someone get big ern telling him to be less of a #####.

No just... just no. People need to stop using this as a talking point. Smith is the sole reason the Flames didn't get blown out in games 2 and 4, and to ignore that fact is just silly. Also, no guarantee of winning game 1 either, if not for quite a number of ten bell saves in that game.

Nope, sorry. If they want to be treated with respect, they should have played like they wanted it.

There's so much we don't know as fans.

Who is injured?

If this is "healthy", then yeah, some changes have to be made just to tell the guys "that won't be accepted here".

Neal goes to the AHL if he doesn't show some life.

If we can package up Monahan with say, Kylington, to get something of real value (a 1c) then okay.

Janko isn't an NHL regular. Ryan is. So.

Wingers..... I dunno. None of 'em other than Lindholm did a damn thing inthe playoffs. Bennett had some snark. But geez.

No grit, no push. Wide eyes.

Are you kidding me?1 what games were you watching. The Flames got owned the whole series. Who gives a #### what they did during the regular season... means nothing.

We were dominated for 3 games and meh in 2 games. Its not like we were close with a good team Avs would not make the playoffs most years thats how low their points were. This was an embarressment no matter how you try spinning it. Thats ok it shows us our weakness. We need to make up a shakeup on defense and get a real #1C. If we do that i think we will be back quick.
