Do any Telus channels have the AMERICAN Superbowl commercials? (Old thread bumped)
...or are they all dubbed with Canadians?

Blame the advertisers for not buying air time on the Canadian broadcast.

That's not really accurate. Many ads aren't legal in Canada and can't be shown.
More like blame advertisers for not spending hundreds of thousands to reach a tiny market who doesn't care that much for the superbowl compared to their southern neighbors.

Such as? Some of the products aren't sold in Canada, so it wouldn't make sense to advertise them, but if the Elton John Pepsi commercial didn't air in Canada (I'm not watching the game, so I don't know if it did), that's Pepsi's fault.

That's what I said. The ads aren't airing on a Canadian broadcast because they didn't spend the money to air them in Canada.
Besides, it's 2012. They're all on YouTube within minutes of broadcast anyway. Simsubbing is much more annoying when the start or end of a show is clipped off because the Canadian and American broadcasts aren't perfectly synced.
Howard Stern is going to be on America's Got Talent? Weird.

I don't know how Starchoice/Shaw Direct gets away with it, but I get all the US commercials on NBC.

They can't/shouldn't. The CRTC will be contacting them you can believe that.

Shaw isn't simsubbing the game in Kelowna. I think its either because CTV doesn't have a local affiliate in the Okanagan or because they don't have CTV available in over the air HD.

Thread resurrection - any thoughts on how to catch the US feed in Canada, short of a crappy illegal stream? Don't think the rules changed at all this year, so sim-sub sadness appears to be on tap for most US & Canadian channels via Shaw/Telus. CRTC confirmation rules-wise
I've heard DAZN perhaps, but wouldn't they just blackout all commercials, rather than showing NBC's feed?

I believe DAZN shows the CTV feed so you still get Canadian ads. You would need to VPN and stream an American service like NBC Peacock.
Many commercials are on YouTube already in case you just want to see the ads. I understand that the entertainment factor is much higher with a US feed though as compared with watching the same 6 or 8 commercials for 4 hours.

there are no good ones.
Was on youtube after the game and the commercials were really lame across the board.

The commercials were definitely weak this year. The only memorable one was Doritos -"Push It".

Like many things I think idea behind the blockbuster Superbowl Commercials has run it’s course, it was likely accelerated by social media and the decline of broadcast TV viewers.
10-20 years ago they really were one off events that marketers could get creative & a little bit shocking with. If the ad was a hit they could reap the rewards of being in the new cycle for the next few days, if the add fell flat they’d just return to their regular campaigns and carry on with life.
I mean even watching Wendy’s smack talk Burger King on twitter has become old hat, how are advertisers suppose to break through that noise once a year on a dying medium?
Nothing’s unexpected anymore.

I just like seeing the new movie/TV show trailers but we don't need a Super Bowl for those.
