Probably wouldn't one for one. But the Rangers are pretty barren on D prospects. Sean Day and Tarmo Reunanen seem to be their best D prospects.
So It would make sense for a re-tooling team to look at a guy like Fox.

The way I read it was he was offering up Hayes or Zibanejad for Trouba (not likely enough) or Hamilton attainable but should be interested in Fox.

I mean no offense to John Gilmour or Pionk but if they got a fair chunk of minutes with the main team, you're pretty thin on D prospects.
EDIT: I have to re list their D prospects. Libor Hajek and Rykov may be their best D prospects. Followed by Day and the other dude. Even adding those two, Rangers RHD prospects are non existent. So Fox definitely would make a ton of sense for Rangers to give up good value.

There are a lot of interesting pieces on the Rangers for the Flames to think about. And they are a retooling team. I’d be pumped if any of Hayes, Zuccarello, or Zibanejad were acquired.

Yeah, if that was offered up you have to take it.
Fox has a really high potential ceiling, but has yet to prove he can play in the NHL. There are some question marks on him as well.
Zibanejad is an established 40-50 point player in his prime with 4 years of term left.
