Right now all that the people that put money in have seen is a lot of vapor ware, a hanger, some screen vids, the buggy arena module and a fps that looks like doom.
The game is now 2 years overdue, I'm amazed that there hasn't been a fraud investigation.

A. Looks like a lot of money going to actors and motion captor (which goes back to that complaint piece with the former employer)
B. a few familiar faces from Wing Commander
C. Now its 2016, with the way development sounds like its going it will probably get stretched from there.

Poor CG Gary Oldman <<< FMV Malcolm McDowell. Is this where my money's going?
Mark Hamill is back along with John Rhys Davies LOL. They didn't bring back BTTF Biff? Or Ginger Lynn as your chief engineer love interest? (yes, the 80's porn star)
Like I said it goes back to the article that talks about Roberts blowing money on advertising for donations, and hiring hollywood actors for voice over work.
I wouldn't be surprised at some point to see people that donated trying to get their money back as this drags on.
Even the in game play stuff that I've seen has been less then impressive. But the video brochures for ships for example have been top notch.
the smart move would be to split the two games the PVP universe and the solo game and finish the solo game as a sign of good faith.

didn't Rockstar hire the James Woods for San Andreas?
San Andreas was their last game with any recognizable actors (James Woods, Samuel L Jackson, David Cross, Ice-T). For GTA 4 and 5 they used unknowns for everything
To add insult to injury, the CG motion capture/expression capture version of Oldman looks like a joke. They've paid top dollar for an actor's likeness and then reproduced him as a rubbery knock-off CG model.

CIG has been processing refunds more or less without question for the last 3 months. There has been mass exodus from the playerbase and only whales and hyper-nerds are hanging on at this point.

That will only help this snowball into failure if Roberts has already spent money on frivolous portions of the game. Arrgh!
Duke Nukem was just overly-promised vaporware for years. They didn't take $93 million from their customers up-front!
Yeah, you've got me there
I would probably never pre-invest or pre-purchase a game, I don't have the level of trust that other people have.
I've seen too many super hyped games that have been complete busts to trust development.
I really wanted BattleCruiser to be a great game, the concept was amazing, but I finally broke down and bought it, and it was such a dissapointment that I burned it in my fire place.
Its ok to have lofty ambitions in game development like Star Citizen.
Solo mode, PVP mode in a huge universe, being able to have huge ships with crews, and having a first person shooter in there.
But in the end you end up having a game that promises a ton and becomes a master of none because its too complex.
There has to be some kind of fear of failure in order to succeed, and for game producers if they invest their own money and create a dog they go out of business. In this case where the game players who so badly want the game are pre-investing, they're basically losing when the producer gets overly ambitious and fails.

The irony is Star Citizen would have probably worked if only people had not given Roberts so much money to fuel his ego and feature-creep.
As promised, a small basic single player campaign (no celebs, voiceovers, fancy Call of Duty AAA cinematic crap) and a smallish Freelancer type universe, it would have been great.
They should have just released a pure space sim like Elite first and then added in stuff like first person, new planets, new worlds, etc.
