I do too, given how the Green Line has gone so overbudget (and therefore gutted) that it really doesn't solve the problems it was meant to, primarily relieving the overcrowded buses of the Centre Street N corridor (and secondarily reaching the deep SE communities) and with little chance of finding the extra $2+B needed to make it useful.

It's an interesting discussion to be having with City officials, especially when the Councillors for Ward's 1 and 6 were invited but not Farrell or Woolley, who's areas are directly impacted. Sounds like a partisan group with provincial influence trying to strong-arm municipal decision-makers, no matter how gently Jeff Davison puts it.

This. Plus keep in mind that there is already talk of a conservative/Manning Centre/populist/Save Calgary/pro-developer/Rick Bell type of slate coming to the next civic election, and I would guess that these "citizens" will have their fingers deeply into that pie as well. Whatever form the Green Line is in by then, it will be the worst, most expensive thing ever. And whatever they manage to "pause", they'll dance around like our saviours.
It is never too early to start the narrative. And the UCP handcuffing cities recently by cutting funding (and in the future) will also help amplify the discontent with "silly hall" and pave the way for some new faces to come in and "fix it". Farkas for mayor, anyone? (shudder)
Don't get me wrong, the Green Line isn't perfect, and neither is city council (far from it). But we are about to see a new era of partisan civic politics. Maybe a bit off-topic and political, but not too much. The Green Line is already very political.

While I agree with you the Green Line needs to be re-evaluated to ensure it’s meeting the stated goals of the project (and a BRT as originally envisioned might be the best solution) this meeting appears improper.
It reads like a strategy session to kill the project with the project managers in attendance. It bypasses all the checks and balances designed to prevent undue influence.

Ah, the old “let’s make them think it was their idea to cancel the project” trick. Kenney doesn’t have to take the blame and he keeps the money earmarked for the project. Diabolical.

First look at bridge types the city is considering for the Green Line over the Bow:

I have no strong feelings about any of them. They are all good in their own way.

While I still want a tunnel, I'd prefer whatever bridge option can limit or eliminate any piers in the river.
Also give me Peace Bridge 2.0: Calatrava's Revenge

I think the second one is probably the worst. To much mass below the bridge.

They all look pretty plain, and typical of what I would expect from this city on a public project.

Cable-stayed presents the most visually interesting options, so I would lean towards that. It's a pretty prominent location, so I hope it's not too basic.

The worst part is asking us for our opinion. Pick one and move on.

How about an asymmetrical cable-stayed bridge that simulates the rise of the topography up the bank?

Man, it would have been awesome if Calgary had just stuck with the Western-themed public infrastructure forever and just doubled down when people complained.
Oh that there over there? Yep, that's the old Steer Horn Bridge, yep, just what it looks like. Yessir.

The bridge probably doesn't matter on the project time line yet, just look at all the things they are behind in or don't have (as of late January):
They can always ignore the public suggestions later on.

That’s a project that will be going 120% over today’s forecast budget.

“We are going to make it look like a horseshoe, dammit. Doesn’t matter if the train has to do a loop-de-loop and jump a chasm to get across the Bow”.

Bump.
How busy is transit, specifically the LRT, these days? I havent been using it for a while but may have to later this week and not sure how busy it is. If its really busy I may just use an uber but somehow I dont think so
