I mean he did set the NHL record for assists at his position the previous year

Huberdeau's issue obviously isn't skill. It's that he doesn't apply himself on a consistent basis. If he played with the same drive as Tkachuk, he would likely have 100 points. I just don't know how you light a fire under him. You shouldn't have to.

Not sure why he'd have to do that. Didn't he go there because of the "culture of winning"?

Makes sense. His fire is out.

Wow, what a season for Matthew Tkachuk. Think I read somewhere that he’s the first American born player in nearly 30 years to record back to back 100 point seasons.
Just goes to show how versatile of a player he is. He’s as good of a goal scorer as he is a playmaker, he can check for his chances, he can score on the rush, in front of the net, below the hashmarks, on the PP and etc.
Florida might not make the playoffs, but he definitely won’t be the reason as he punched well above his weight this season.

Lot of people including me thought Tkachuk potential is limited because he can’t skate
Well, he is proving other than skating, he is indeed a generational player…
Best Flames pick in the last 30 yrs

Tkachuk wouldn't have the big numbers again here in that scenario...that is why he wanted the trade and sign last summer. When Gaudreau left the Offence was looking pretty thin.

It is super hard to imagine Tkachuk putting up 100 points with Lindholm and Toffoli

A generational player is the best player of his generation, you know - comes along once in a generation. Let's try and keep it real here.

It's crazy that the Flames drafted Tkachuk, Fox, and Dube in the same draft.
That's a generational draft right there.

I hate Fox and Tkachuk, they both spat on this franchise.

Yeah, the Flames haven't been able to keep all their talent, but their drafting has actually done a pretty good job. If Monahan hadn't broken down and the team still had Gaudreau, Tkachuk, and Fox they would be top-tier contender.

I said other than his skating
There is not another player that skates like that and still produces like that
He is not a generational but a unicorn for sure

Fox I can see but not Tkachuk. Players have rights and he used them. It's not like he did the Flames dirty.
It's better than the days when players were chattel.

He forced a trade to one of a very small number of teams directly after the team’s only other star left.
Fox used his rights just the same as Tkachuk, so I don’t see why they would be different. And if you don’t think what Tkachuk did was doing the Flames dirty, I don’t wanna know how dirty you get done.
That trade has turned out poorly, but if it looked this ugly from the beginning then I doubt as many people would be so rosey on Tkachuk.

No idea if this team would be cap compliant, but hey, I thought I would look at a revised roster with this in mind. For argument's sake, I treated Lindholm and Hanifin for Hamilton and Ferland straight up, but perhaps a 2nd or 3rd round pick thrown in.
Gaudreau-Lindholm-Tkachuk (best line in hockey)
Dube-Monahan(healthy)-Toffoli
Mangiapane-Backlund-Coleman
Lewis-Ruzicka-Duehr
Fox-Weegar
Hanifin-Andersson
Tanev-Zadorov
Markstrom
Vladar
That could easily be a cup winning team. JFC.

Tkachuk asked for a trade after losing to the Flames biggest rivals in the playoffs. That is down right disrespect.

It would take a lot to convince me otherwise that the seeds of Tkachuk's departure were planted at his bridge deal, and his mind was all but made up in the days following the Muzzin incident.
