Wonder what the Flames are going to do with the Burke vacancy. If they are looking to add another voice but reclass the job to a VP level and add someone to work with Treliving, would be a great hire.
And if Peters craps out and Treliving gets fired, would be a better stand in than Feaster!

Dundon is another American 'billionaire' who was born into a wealthy family, handed every possible advantage, and was gifted family money to begin his 'empire'. Like many others in this position, he does indeed seem to believe that he 'earned' what he has by being 'brilliant' and 'through hard work' (see also: Trump, Donald). Born on third, thinks he hit a triple.
And now he is going to use his 'brilliance' and 'superior business knowledge' to Make the Hurricanes Great Again (see also: Trump, Donald).

They already did that.
Don Maloney is in the organization with the title VP of Hockey Operations.

I always thought the reporting structure would be President, VP, GM of Hockey Ops. It doesn't make a lot of sense for Maloney, as VP to answer to the GM does it?

I wouldnt be surprised to see BT have POHO added to his title.
Seems like that is where things are at now.

That is exactly what Matty81 said though - if they hired a new vice president.

Why not? I think each managerial structure is different, and in the Flames's case both Treliving and Maloney reported to Burke—irrespective of what their individual titles suggest—and that one was not necessarily stationed over the other. In fact, the way in which each member of the hockey operations dept. was listed rather shows quite clearly where Maloney and Treliving ranked in the hierarchy:
· Brian Burke, president of hockey operations
· Brad Treliving, general manager
· Brad Pascal / Craig Conroy, assistant general managers
· Don Maloney, vice presidenthockey operations
In the wake Burke's departure it seems quite clear that Treliving assumes control of hockey operations, and I think it safe to assume that Maloney now reports to Treliving.

I'm not surprised he's out, there have been rumblings that way for a while. I just heard from some hockey minds that they wouldn't fire Francis, but rather move him to a different position in the organization.

If the Canes were to re-locate, how many teams in league history have moved twice? I cant honestly think of one.

Oakland/California Seals. First to Cleveland, then merging with Minnesota, then moving to Dallas.
Kansas City Scouts. First to Colorado, then to New Jersey.

Kansas City Scouts became the Colorado Rockies, which became the New Jersey Devils.
California Golden Seals became the Cleveland Barons, which then merged with the North Stars, which became the Dallas Stars.
Edit: Damnit! Too slow.

Technically, the North Stars demerged and split to form the Sharks.
If you track the ownership of the franchise(s) through the Gund brothers, it went: Seals > Barons > merger > North Stars > demerger > Sharks. Then, a couple years after the split, the Stars moved to Dallas.

Does the guy owe you money or something? You come across as a rude and insecure person trying to bully someone. What have you done that gives you the ability to criticize a billionaire business person? Guy has a billion dollars, he seems to know what to do with it and has run several big companies. I assume you know more than you posted, so share that with us.
Dundon seems to have it together, I am not quite sure what you are complaining about.

And why are you defending the guy? lol.
Owners become easy targets when they want to be heavily involved in sports decisions. Dundon likely doesn't have much of a background in scouting, player contracts, sports management, etc. He's not treating his hockey team like a business because if he was he'd hire competent hockey people and let them run the business. When owners want to become too involved when they lack the expertise to do so I think they should be ready for some criticism.
From everything we've heard the Hurricanes are headed into a very rough patch because the owner wants to be too involved in a business he knows very little about. Why shouldn't we criticize this guy? He's making it easy to do so so far.
