It sure as hell helped! By leaving Puljajarvi on the board for Edmonton to pick it prevented the Oilers from adding a bonafide potential #1 defenseman in favour of (yet another) winger with good physical attributes and highly questionable hockey sense.

Edmonton is no good.

That powerplay is killing the Blue Jackets.

I tend to think Puljujarvi will still turn out. But they sure didn't help him by failing to help him learn English in a prompt timeframe. They sure put him in place to fail by keeping him up right away instead of having continue to learn pro in the AHL or Finland that first season. EDM is no good and their development of a lot of their top picks has been questionable for years.

You do make a good point about having them take another winger when wing is arguably the least valuable position in the NHL.

Pretty one-sided period in favor of the Blue Jackets.

Have to wonder about the Caps. Home ice, higher seed, 3rd period, series tied, game tied and they get outshot by a dozen. How does that even happen?

Still can't see that team going far.

Bought a sports select ticket this morning

Tampa over NJ
Washington-Columbus Tie
Boston over Tor

2 for 3 so far...

So put your money on Toronto tonight. They have a habit of ruining my infrequent gambling exploits with sudden over-their-head performances when they have no business winning.

GO Bs!

Does this Washington v. Columbus series remind anyone else a little of the 2004 Flames v. Canucks first-round tilt?

Backstrom with the tip wins it. 3-2 Washington in the series.

Caps were lucky to get out of the 3rd period, but that OT goal was well earned.

I think the Washington v. Columbus series will go to seven games.

heart wrenching for the Jackets and their fans. I hope they force a game 7, they deserve a little taste of post season success.

That was a pretty nice goal by Brown. Very Crosby-esque. 1-0 Leafs.
