Default 2020 NFL Season Thread

Well, here we are. Gonna be a fascinating season where "home field advantage" will come down to who has the best speaker system. Chiefs are pretty well set up to repeat with almost all of their starters coming back, most of their coaching staff back, and of course the best QB in the world. Whether the season gets interrupted or cancelled is anyone's guess, but until it does it will be nice to have Sundays to escape it all.

Predictions:

Super Bowl Champion: Kansas City
NFC Champion: New Orleans
Biggest Surprise: Bengals make the playoffs
Biggest Disappointment: Packers miss the playoffs
MVP: Patrick Mahomes
Does Jacksonville go 0-16: No

I don't think the Chiefs OL is going to be as good this season and that could be a factor that ultimately keeps them out of the Super Bowl. They should win the division easily as the Raiders are improving but not ready starting rookes for WR1 and WR2, the Broncos losing Miller when Chubb still not 100% is crushing, and the Chargers have a low ceiling with Taylor.

The Ravens are my pick to win the Super Bowl this season as they have solid coaching and have few weaknesses. I feel a lot of the top NFC teams will beat up on each other while the Chiefs and Ravens should have it pretty easy in the AFC.

Didn't know fans would be attending some games. 16,000 fans will be attending tonight's season opener in Kansas City. Why not?

Was also going to ask this on the college 2019 thread but there isn't one

Will home teams be able to crank up the noise when the visiting team has the ball? Same goes for the college level.

Basing this pretty much on regression metrics and each team's individual schedule...

AFC East
Pats
Bills
Dolphins
Jets

AFC North
Ravens
Browns
Steelers
Bengals

AFC South
Colts
Titans
Texans
Jags

AFC West
Chiefs
Chargers
Broncos
Raiders

WC: Chargers, Browns, Titans

NFC East
Cowboys
Eagles
Giants
Football Team

NFC North
Lions
Vikings
Packers
Bears

NFC South
Bucs
Saints
Falcons
Panthers

NFC West
Niners
Cards
Rams
Hawks

WC: Eagles, Vikings, Saints

Super Bowl: Cowboys over Chiefs (barf)

1st overall pick: Jags

How did we get stuck with Rams/Cowboys for the debut of SNF when Brees vs. Brady is sitting there?

I have to think Fox fought pretty hard to protect that game. It's like back in 93 when Montana was with the Chiefs and they were playing San Francisco, Fox insisted they get that game when bidding to win the NFC broadcast rights from CBS.

Also Dallas-LA is bigger from a TV market perspective than Tampa Bay-New Orleans is.

Even if the other one is the better game.

Better question is how did we get such stinky Monday Night games to open the year? Just shows how MNF is almost as bad as TNF now with game quality.

Titans/Broncos might be alright, but Giants/Steelers is bad.

I mean Cards/49ers, Seahawks/Falcons, Packers/Vikings all profile as much more intriguing games. How MNF didn't get one of those is kinda pathetic. FOX got a pretty wicked opening weekend slate.

Drew Magary quit Deadspin, but is still doing his amazing WYTS articles. Can find them linked in his twitter thread here.

Just what the Chiefs need. A running game.

Chiefs offense becoming even more unstoppable with CEH is definitely fair.

This Texans passing offense is nonexistent.

Is there anyone in the AFC who can come close? Who is 2nd best? Buffalo?

Too bad we don’t have a receiver like Hopkins to throw to.
