Isn't it ridiculously hard for year+ injury guys to keep their cards, though?

Looks like he has 24 events to get 266 fedex points.

https://www.pgatour.com/fantasy/medical-extensions.html

I think he strategically picked the start of the season to begin his quest. 266 is less than what #125 had last year in a similar number or tournaments., so basically he's in a better boat most regular players, and major medical exemption is a decent category that gets him into all the regular tournaments.

The big question is whether he can re-gain his form over a year. Apparently he registered last week too and withdrew, so we'll have to see if this is going to be the week.

325 was what it took to get in top 125 last year, so he has pretty much secured his card for another year in his first event of the season and can focus on bigger and better things now. So, a pretty productive week for sure.

Wow, I don't have a grasp on Fed Ex Cup point earnings and playoffs, so that's great to hear. Hopefully he can add a win this season as well.

It begs the question, why do so many big guys miss so many tournaments early on? Do they just not want to play golf year round? You have to think they could get some serious headway if they played a little more before January, but many seem to mostly thumb their nose at playing a lot, early.

This tournament had a few big names. Thomas, DeChambeau, Cantlay are all top 10 in the world, and also Mickelson and Adam Scott.

It looks like a lot of the big names are going to kick off their 19-20 season playing the 2 PGA events and the WGC in Asia in October. 2 of them are limited field and all have huge purses, so lots of opportunities there.

The strong field this week made Hadwin's 2nd place worth a lot of ranking points, and he's jumped up to 48 in the world. If he keeps there, he'll be in all majors and WGC events. I don't think he had qualified for any of them as of last week.

Wow, I was going to post Hadwin's nice finish as an aside, then Kevin Na triple bogeyed to go from -24 to -21 and now Hadwin can legitimately think about warming up in half hour or so.

Kevin Na is such a grinder.

What a gutsy win.

Exciting news for the three of us in here lol. Graham Deleat played his first round of golf since the injury. Finished +1.

Can't wait to see his progression.

Lol!!

Quote:
Lee Ann Walker missed the cut at the Senior LPGA Championship in French Lick, Ind., after she was assessed 58 penalty strokes over the first two rounds.

It’s unclear how long it’s been since Walker competed in an LPGA-sanctioned event, but she apparently was unaware that rules have changed and that caddies no longer can stand behind players when they putt. Halfway through her front nine on Tuesday, another caddie informed her of the rules infraction, and she self-reported the violation to an LPGA official on hand at the Pete Dye Course.

“We had her recreate the times that that happened,” tour official Marty Robinson told Golfweek.

Walker was assessed a two-stroke penalty for each occurrence. Her opening round 85 turned into a 127. She was penalized 16 more strokes on the second round, ending with a 90 instead of a 74.

Yep, found it after. 4:30 - 6 blocked off for coverage. Very early start in Japan (4:30 here is 7:30 am there).
