Haven't heard anything other than be prepared to start up again this weekend dependent on return to play going forward.

Hopefully we can be back on the ice by January. This really sucks for the kids. And coaches too although it's not supposed to be about me ...

No word yet from our Hockey Assocation but I believe there is zero chance of sports before 2021.

Hockey Alberta needs to take a step back to completely re-think their model. Even as it was, our team constantly had kids on quarantine due to school exposure, and the three games we did play we almost had to forfeit.

We were on the other end of the spectrum. No issues whatsoever. A couple kids missed a week with colds but other than that it was all systems go until we were told to stop.

We didn't have any issues at all. Had one kid in quarantine at one point and another who got sick and missed two weeks. Otherwise we had full rosters, our kids will be horribly disappointed if they can't be on the ice until January.

My husband feels the same, he's so bummed not to be coaching. You are not alone!

No word from our association about refunds, but I'm sure they are waiting to hear from Hockey Calgary for direction. I think we'll need to know if we are back on the ice in Jan or not before planning out any refunds.

To go through 2 rounds of evals, make teams and then not get to play feels extra painful. I'm so frustrated that kids sports got shut down. Usually, I register for summer camps etc. around this time, but I'm so hesitant to pay for things with this much uncertainty. The small businesses centered around kids sports are just getting hammered.

On top of hockey being shut down our community outdoor rink is on the verge of being shut down because it's been overrun by teens and young adults who are practicing zero distancing and showing no regard for the safety of others. So now the ODR has basically been taken away from the kids as well.

Hockey has so much body contact, even in practices. It’s a good fit for an infectious disease that wants to spread. The only workable solution has turned out to be a “bubble”.

A 100 person cohort is laughable...who came up with that?

It’s hard to answer that. Maybe the backyard rink?

For sure, just need some consistent cold weather to get it going.

Ugh... Considering they considered Jr. A to be the only "safe" league, this does not bode well for a return to normal for any level of minor hockey.

Canmore Eagles junior hockey team reports 16 positive COVID cases, more in family contacts

Other teams within the AJHL have reported cases:

Calgary Canucks reported a positive case on Nov. 20.
Drumheller Dragons reported a positive case on Nov. 21.
Okotoks Oilers reported a positive case on Nov. 22.

Has anyone heard from their associations on potential refunds?

I have kids in two different associations and haven't heard anything.

I do not believe there will be a season.

Getting refunds will be the problem.

Nothing yet but I too agree the season is done.

Nothing from Southwest. Heard for Jr. A Buffalos they have a drop deal date of Feb 15 but I'd say one more extension to restrictions will kill Minor hockey for this year.

I am really torn on this season and kids sports in general. I miss being on the ice with my kids so much but from a pure economy standpoint I believe that team sports should be one of the last things to return. It is shown from professional sports how easily COVID spreads through teams and despite the lack of evidence in Alberta I think that sports are at an increased risk for COVID.

EDIT: I have also not heard on refunds, with the Knights.

On their Facebook, the HDC (private rink) says that they have been told by Alberta Health that it will be at least a month before arenas are allowed to open. Other rumors have Hockey Calgary and Hockey Alberta meeting this week, and to expect a cancellation announcement coming out of that.

EDIT: Our club did not charge a third installment to those who were on the installment program and has hinted that the rest will get some sort of refund.

Meanwhile BC has just trucked along with youth sports being focused on skills and distanced practices. This sucks immensely for our kids.

We've heard rumblings that spring football could in theory go ahead, but I have my doubts that they will get final approval.

A lot of people out there can't afford the fees and are going to need their money back hockey wise.

There is a petition that was just started with a proposed return-to-play plan.

Here is a link to their proposal

EDIT: Didn't actually sign the petition, myself.
