Could this be the first player that Loubo doesn't describe as a good player and even better person?

I actually think it’s poor value. They could have picked another 1st round talent and picked this kid rounds later. It’s like they were worried another team may take him early.

This is the same league where guys like Craig MacTavish and Doug Gilmour have their name on the Cup. In this province.

I actually watched it back to see if they said "we are proud to select"... they did.

Big oof.

I think it's a bad pick, but better to pick him higher than they should have with their 1st, rather than getting a "steal" with their 2nd (even better would have been not picking him at all of course). Could you imagine if they would have selected him with a later pick? still gross though.

He was ranked 35th on McKenzie's ranking which are consensus rankings. So not a stretch to take him there based purely on hockey.

Marc Bergevin was in management for the Hawks during their sex scandal, so something like this probably didn't even phase him.

Not sure why the league didn't step in prior to the draft and suspend the player from eligibility, to keep this from happening. Cringeworthy

I would assume Bettman and the league are very not thrilled with the pick, but I suspect there's nothing they can do about it, much like Miller last year. Eligible is eligible, and there's no criteria based on character.

Also Friedman suggested that he'd probably have been taken at some point, so maybe they figured he'd be gone anyway early on day 2 when things are a bit less spotlight-ish.

Someone was going to step on the land mine, the Canadiens decided to go first.
