Boring ancient story: The Quebec Bulldogs were kicked out of the league in 1920. Frank Calder personally revoked their franchise without compensation, then turned around and sold the franchise (complete with players) to owners in Hamilton. No proper records of the transaction were kept, but there are some grounds to believe he put the transfer fee in his own pocket. Shady business deals are nothing new in the NHL.
If Hamilton ever gets a team, Quebec can take it away from them, just for karma's sake. And Hamilton is never getting a team.
