RFA

Sam Bennett I'd like to see a $3M x 5 year contract
Matthew Tkachuk $8M x 6 years
Alan Quine $800K x 1 year
David Rittich $2.5 x 3 years
Andrew Mangiapane $1.2 x 2 years
Rinat Valiev
Spencer Foo
Curtis Lazar
Kerby Rychel
Tyler Graovac This guy still intrigues me - no NHL callup but lighting it up in the AHL - just a straight qualifying offer.
Ryan Lomberg

Josh Healey
Mason McDonald

UFA

Oscar Fantenberg I'd like to see more. 1 x $800K (2 way)
Mike Smith
Garnet Hathaway $1M x 1 year (stay hungry my friend)
Dalton Prout I've been surprised. $800K for another year (2 way)
Anthony Peluso
Matt Taormina

Graovac will most likely be group 6 UFA because he will be over 25 years old, has 3 or more pro seasons, and has played less than 80 NHL games.

He would need to play 18 more NHL games (this includes playoff games) to remain RFA.

Thanks, sureLoss. I hadn't caught that.

Here are my own picks

RFA

Sam Bennett - obvious keep. See if he might bite on $3 x 4 years. If not, maybe closer to $2 for 2 years.
Matthew Tkachuk - another obvious one. Try going long-term, I like the idea of 8 x $7.75
Alan Quine - I'd give him a 1-year deal. His qualifying offer is $735k but I think he'd probably reject it. Probably wants a 1-way deal but he might have to settle for increased AHL salary. Either way, definitely keep his rights and keep him around, he's a good depth player.
David Rittich - Probably gets a three-year deal to make him expansion-eligible.
I'd hope for around $2.25-$2.5 but goalies perplex me.
Andrew Mangiapane - Hopefully at about 2x$900k.
Rinat Valiev - even though it may not seem like it, the Flames are relatively thin at defense from an organizational standpoint, with only Nielsen and Valimaki (who's probably an NHLer next year) locked in for the Heat next year. I'd qualify Valiev but wouldn't give him much more than that
Spencer Foo - he's been better of late but he hasn't moved the needle enough, IMO
Curtis Lazar - Stockton has to have somebody. I'd qualify him, he's been good in the AHL
Kerby Rychel - see Lazar
Ryan Lomberg
Brett Pollock
Josh Healey
Mason McDonald

Likely UFA

Tyler Graovac - he might want to find a team willing to give him NHL games, but he's been a good AHL producer.

UFA

Oscar Fantenberg - I'd give him a 1-way deal as the #7 behind Gio, Hamonic, Hanifin, Andersson, Valimaki, and Stone/Kylington. He's been impressive.
Mike Smith - hope he can find a contract somewhere but not here
Garnet Hathaway - as long as it's under a million
Dalton Prout - I'd rather just keep Stone, to be honest, although Prout has been okay.
Anthony Peluso
Matt Taormina
Marcus Hogstrom

Mason McDonald has been playing well of late. If I’m Calgary, I might offer him one more contract.

Not sure why they wouldn't.

He is still a very young man and even more so as a goaltender. Cannot have to many of them in the system cause you never know who will figure it out and who won't.

Re-sign those in bold

RFA

Sam Bennett
Matthew Tkachuk
Alan Quine
David Rittich
Andrew Mangiapane
Rinat Valiev
Spencer Foo
Curtis Lazar
Kerby Rychel
Ryan Lomberg
Brett Pollock
Josh Healey
Mason McDonald

Likely UFA

Tyler Graovac

UFA

Oscar Fantenberg
Mike Smith
Garnet Hathaway
Dalton Prout
Anthony Peluso
Matt Taormina
Marcus Hogstrom

Let all UFAs walk. Maybe get Hathaway back on a cheap deal, but can probably get someone up from the minors. Fantenberg has looked good, but I don't think we will have room for him on the roster.

I wouldn't mind seeing Lomberg and Valiev on AHL specific deals and AOM find a 2-way deal on his table soon.

I really don't see Lazar back. His qualifying offer would be $1,050,000 one way deal and he has arbitration rights.

He would need to sign a 2 way deal before the qualifying offers are due and he most likely would want to go to another organization that would likely give him more of a chance.

Yes but it never hurts to start early. It will be interesting to see how much people change their opinions based on playoffs. Did somebody surprise or did somebody completely disappear?

Yeah, I'd like to see what Fantenberg can bring, whether Stone performs well in the POs, how Rittich does, etc.

RFA
Sam Bennett - another bridge deal deal near 2 x 2.2M (~2.75% of cap)
Matthew Tkachuk - I'm not sure if they are going to be firm on the Gio/Johnny cap. If so I could see maybe a 4 x 6.75M being accepted by Tkachuk's camp but would prefer the Flames go longer term and make a new ceiling at 10% of cap going forward (8 x 8M for Tkachuk)
Alan Quine - 1 x 800k NHL / 250k AHL
David Rittich - 3 x 2.5M to make him expansion eligible (~3% of cap)
Andrew Mangiapane - 2 x 1M (~1.25% of cap)
Rinat Valiev - Qualify
Spencer Foo
Curtis Lazar - Qualify, but expect that he will leave to a team with less depth chart ahead of him
Kerby Rychel - Qualify
Tyler Graovac
Ryan Lomberg
Brett Pollock
Josh Healey
Mason McDonald - Qualify

UFA
Oscar Fantenberg - 1 x 800k, #7D for next year to cover injuries and the youth at LD when they need a game to watch from the press box. Would only sign him if we move Stone this off season.
Mike Smith
Garnet Hathaway - 1 x 1M
Dalton Prout
Anthony Peluso
Matt Taormina
Marcus Hogstrom

We'd likely be looking to move out Frolik or Stone for cap flexibility / to make room for Tkachuk on a long term deal though. Also need to find a platoon caliber goalie @ ~2.5M.
