Flames Playoff Experience
I thought that it would be an interesting exercise to see how much playoff experience the Flames roster would bring with them. Obviously this is more players than the team is currently carrying but it should at the very least indicate the depth of experience available to the roster.

Toews and Kane haveas much experience as all those skaters combined.
Very very light on PO experience on this team for sure.

I thought this thread was going to be about the fan experience at playoff games and whether or not they'll continue to use Navras as their pre-entrance music.

Honestly,as much as we all rag on him for his stats this year, in James Neal's absence, the Flames have played with much less confidence and swagger. His leadership is missed IMO.

It's tragic Gio has 8 playoff GP given his stellar career. He missed the 2015 2nd playoff run or it would have been in the 20s.

shocking, really. i think Rittich is going to have to clearly outplay him down the stretch to get the call in game 1. if it is close down the stretch I think Smith gets the call in game 1 based on experience alone (for what that is worth at this point in his career playing the way he has).

I think playoff experience is a little overrated. Kane and Toews had only played 16 and 17 playoff games respectively before their run to the Cup in 2010. Goalies like Dryden, Roy, Matt Murray, had never played playoff hockey before winning Cups. Although there probably is some value to having a few guys that have gone through the grind, which I think having James Neal is key.
Regarding Navras, I was surprised when they used it during the 2015 playoffs, and I hope they'll use it again this spring. Something about that song and having the Dome flashing red. Goosebumps!

I think the bulk of his games were in 2011 though.

Does anyone really think that Gio's lack of a lot of PO games is going to matter? That guy plays PO hockey 90% of the regular season. Tkachuk too.

Smith's numbers are boosted by the Coyotes' run to the Western Conference Final in 2012. He was fantastic that season and deserved a ton of praise for helping Phoenix get as far as they did, but he's a very different goaltender now. Remains to be seen if and how he handles the playoffs but here's hoping he can play well if he draws in.

Yes i think it will matter - but it will matter for the better. Given he is entering the twilight of his NHL career and missed the 2015 playoffs, I expect Gio will actually bump it up a notch or two or three in the playoffs. He is going to be a beast.

Crazy a player from the Islanders of all teams is the Flames most playoff experienced defenceman.
Also Gaudresu with 11 points in 15 games is pretty solid considering rival fans say he disappears in the playoffs.
