Default Amazon Prime - worth it?

Not so much interested in the 2-day shipping, so much as the video and music streaming. Is it like a combo Poor Mans Netflix and Spotify, or it actually any good?

Is there any way to get Amazon music to play nice with google home?

Tl;dr: It's not worth it

I rarely use the Amazon Video since I have Netflix, most of the original content is alright, Amazon Music I haven't tried since I already have Google Music, and there two day shipping seems to have issues lately had a package shipped by ground instead of 2 day express, and had another Prime qualified shipment I ordered today and upgraded to one day not shipped and won't ship until Thursday due to processing time (It's a boardgame so I'm sure the processing time is just a stall).

Going to be demanding a refund to my renewal tomorrow and canceling prime, so I'd say no not worth it. Have had Prime for just over 2 years now.

If you're getting it just for the video and music then I would say its not worth it. But if you buy lots from Amazon and if you look at the video and music service as a bonus, then Prime is totally worth it.

Been a member for 5 years. Streaming services 4K HDR is better than netflix in quality. The music is lacking in newer music but has a very solid classic catalogue. Shipping service is top tier.

I think people are forgetting that Prime is only 7 bucks a month. You get a lot for a pretty damn low cost.

When my cheese grater is old and worn out I go to the computer and order one and its on my front door in two days. Usually I can find an upgrade and my new cheese grater works a lot better. I like that. The idea that you can fulfill your needs on the spot is a big time saver. Worth the cost of prime alone.

I just signed up today, mostly for The Grand Tour. But I’m becoming enamoured with the idea of having an econo box of diapers at my door in 24-48 hours whenever I need them. Or toilet paper. Or laundry detergent. Etc. I feel like the shipping might come in pretty handy once I get the hang of it.

I use it almost daily for everything. I love it, but would say shipping is the best part. Video sucks and music is allright. Netflix and Spotify are way better.

Then there is photo storage for free. Never use it.

I think it is a steal of a deal. Will only get better when Calgary gets that distribution center.

It's great for when you forget essentials at the store to save a trip, or when you just need one or two things. Still wish the Canada store had more options though.

Prime photos alone is almost worth the price.

Couldn't imagine living without Amazon Prime. The convenience is amazing. In the city where I live, they now have on demand ordering (Amazon Now) for certain staples, and gets delivered within 2 hours (or a 2 hour window of your choosing).

I think once you subscribe to Prime you find yourself using it more and more.

The shipping on it's own isn't worth it.
The video on it's own also isn't worth it.

However together they provide just enough value to justify the $79/year price as we make a few orders on Amazon and my wife enjoys some of the shows (Community is one) that are no longer on Netflix.

The music I haven't used, I checked out the library once and found it pretty lacking compared to Spotify which I also pay for.

The shipping on it's own is absolutely worth it.

Pull the last roll of paper towel, Alexa order paper towel
Running low on garbage bags, Alexa order garbage bags
Printer is running low on photo black, Alexa order cannon photo black ink

My house is basically Star Trek and Prime is as close to a replicator as we are going to get in my lifetime.

For me, video on its on isn't worth it.

But I order a ton of stuff from Amazon--like, 30+ packages a year--and I figure the $80/year I spend on free shipping is offset by the stress I'm saving by not going to the store. Which I hate. Because it's terrible.

I view Prime Video as something of an added bonus. Man in the High Castle is the only thing I watched in its entirety.

The amazon video app for iOS was just updated and can now be installed on Apple TVs. Looks like the feud is over just as the Amazon - Google feud is really starting to heat up.

As a dad with a toddler and a baby on the way, subscribe and save has been amazing. Over 20 percent off diapers which more than pays the annual subscription fee. Also the photo storage/sharing is quite good when you get the hang of it.

Also Prime Day alone can be worth it. We got an instant pot, yard tools and booster seat all 50% off.

Unless you verify with https://ca.camelcamelcamel.com/or the Keepa extension which shows all historical Amazon prices, Amazon is widely known to bump up prices prior to Prime Day so you don't really get a deal.

Good to know, will check that out. I do price things out, for example the umbrella stroller we got on Prime Day for 40 bucks still sells on Walmart for 120. I'm sure as you said there are certain price bumps, but i do think there are some crazy deals to be had on Prime Day.
