Icon48 Best GM 2021 - Nominees - Lou Lamoriello Wins Again

I didn't see a thread for this.

Nominees are:

Marc Bergevin of the Canadiens,
Lou Lamoriello of the Islanders
Bill Zito of Panthers

I like Marc Bergevin myself, I think he's done a good job assembling a team. They made it to the final 4 through the North Division but still.

The only award that gets voted for after the second round of the playoffs. Silly.

I would have gone with Waddell, and by a large margin.
After that, I think Bill Zito is the best.

Lamoriello is carried by a good coach. Bergevin is just okay. He has made good moves though.

Maybe because a GM's work is supposed to pay dividends in the playoffs? I dunno.

Tough call on who wins this;

Lamoriello made some trades this season that strengthened the Isles for the playoffs.
I don't think the Islanders would be as competitive without Palmieri and Zajac on the team.

Montreal did a good job retooling their squad a bit from last year - they've made a ton of moves.

I'd probably give it to Zito if this was voted on at the end of the regular season, but I do think Bennett's penalties against Tampa were a contributing factor on why FLA lost that series.

Not sure how Bergevin wins. Any other div and they don't even make the playoffs.

How awful and bad was the North Division? I guess we'll really see next year.

And how bad are the Flames still, without any substantial changes, I don't see how they make the playoffs next year. It's going to take more than just coaching.

They did have the 3rd best win percentage of pacific teams...not saying they shouldn't make changes

Lou wins for the second year in a row, he's been around for a long time too.
