Miller has at least looked pretty good. Same with Hughes for the most part.

Hronek has looked pretty bad. He has a really hard shot but hasn't been using it.

Pettersson (4 points), Hronek (0 points), Hoglander (1 point) are more the issue.
Horglander 24 goals and 36 points, has 1 point so far this playoff.

I think the shot volume thing is starting to become an issue. Demko can't score goals.

I turned the game off the second Edmonton scored at the end. I didn't realize there was some controversy about whether the play should have been stopped because the puck may have been knocked down with a high stick. Was that actually the case, or was it inconclusive?

No but the structure of the team changes - they play a much more defensive game than what they had been playing earlier in the year. And when the player who has the most shots on the team in Pettersson suddenly has stopped shooting the puck it really changes the dynamic of the team.

I know that Silovs played well but they have also gone into a defensive shell in a way that I don't think happens if you have a Vezina candidate in the net.

Because of how fast everything happened, I don't think anyone really looked at it but it shouldn't have been called back either way as it would have been inconclusive.

Edit - The Pettersson deal was not an over pay. It wasn't an amazing deal. It's what you pay for a young ppg center. Calling a long term deal bad before the deal even starts is some silly ####. Also, Supermatt is a jerk for making me respond to a post I didn't want to see. Mean ol' jerk.
Lol the fact that it looks bad before it's even begun is all the more reason to.

Do you see Petey digging deeper when he's on the hook for much more dough?

If the sense of imposter syndrome is crippling him now..

Some tried to make the same argument about huberdeau before is deal kicked in but we all knew what was coming... as in the guy wasn't going to transform just because his dollar figure changed.

Although to be fair, the effort came a little more consistently in this calendar year.

Yeah, I'm not so sure calling a deal that kicks in in a couple of months bad given the performance of said player literally a few months into when they signed it is "silly ####". I don't know, seems reasonable to look at how the player is playing right now and then having concern about how that translates out in October. *shrugs*

There are players pretty average during regular season but has a gear or two to turn up to, Petey is the opposite, pretty elite during regular season and stuck in neutral in playoff because of the grinding style in the playoff.

I can see he was unable to grind it out in the Nashville series but Oilers aren't exactly grind you down type of team. Where is his finesse game? He should be able to finesse his way around all those plugs on the Oilers. I haven't been able to watch any game this series, are the Oilers targeting him?

Glad Hronek is sucking though tbh. He chirped the flames "you guys are going on vacation in 2 days" in the last game vs. the flames. Big talk coming from a scrub. No value added to the 1st pairing and its 100% hughes. Karma's a b#### Hronek, and good job for rejecting that 52M offer because you aren't getting that now.
You're glad a Vancouver player is sucking against the no good Oilers?

Your name is edmonton is no good. You shouldn't be glad someone is playing ####ty against them.

He clearly mentioned it's because that player chirped at the Flames.

Oilers are playing about as physical as you'll ever see them, but not cleanly (because they're not that smart). Has included a lot of interference and other things not getting called. They've really gated the calls against the oilers, so you'll have one call for every handful of ignored infractions and seems like they're aware of that.

If he's afraid of the grind then this isn't friendly to his style of play.

That player can swear to my mom and kids and I'd still want him to play amazing against the Oilers.

Except he was fine in the bubble play-offs which were just as grindy. And his play was just as listless at the end of this regular season. It's not the "heavy play-off play style" that's grinding on him. It's his own head ####ing with himself after the contract. Same as the last contract he signed.

Why target him? He's playing awful.

Given the current situation I don't care what Hronek said to us and no real Flames fan should either where it affects them rooting for Vancouver to prevail.

VANs entire purpose here is to beat the oilers then get destroyed by Dallas, getting us an extra pick and a higher pick, and maximum disappointment for both rival franchises.

Never lose sight of the end goal.

Haha fair enough! I'm just saying that was the poster's stated reason, which is understandable as a Flames fan because for many, the Flames are #1 - even over the Oilers losing.

I was worried about a player like Hughes performing in the playoffs. Shades of early gaudreau in the playoffs. Smaller, skilled player that is experiencing physical playoff hockey. Just got annihilated in that first game by an oiler (Hymen maybe)? Not a huge surprise it's the gritter guys that are finding some success- Miller, Lindholm.

You lost me at Lindholm being gritty.... Having a great playoffs, but gritty, Lindholm is not...
