I think some were half hoping you were given an enforced time out after that "Vang-couver" nonsense last weekend.

Hah. With a series like this we are stuck with one or the other winning…

Given the discussion here, I'm surprised you've underestimated the NHL's on and off-ice officials' ability to impact the upcoming series.

Imposter syndrome after a big contract extension is real. Confidence just looks shot.
Canucks really seemed to be the ones pushing him to sign in-season and looks like a bit of a short term mistake.

His performance in that presser is remarkably similar to his on-ice performance.

I've seen that look before. Naslund in 2003 after they lost to a dreadful LA team in the last home game of the season and missed out on the division title. The "We choked" speech. Just absolutely mentally fried.
If he isn't talking to a sports psychologist, the team is not taking care of their investment.
That being said, this is the exact same thing he went through after signing his last contract. He'll get out of this funk, but the timing of this could not be worse.

I was confident in calling it an overpay the day it was signed and that hasn't changed.
Canucks fans called it a good deal, some even arguing it was some kind of discount.
If we're talking a fair deal it's probably in the same pay grade as the other Elias. The 7-9M range.
Even though Lindholm is out-shining him in many ways these playoffs, you'd be paying him for the elite skill alone. Not nearly consistent enough to be in the 10+ bracket.

$10-$10.5M would have been fine.
He's a 25 year old center that averages a point per game for his career, and averaged 97 points per 82 games the last two seasons.
They overpaid by $0.5M to $1.0M to just get the deal done and not deal with the impending RFA issue, potential offer sheet, and risk of him taking his QO and going to UFA.

What happened to Hughes and J.T Miller. 37 goals and just 2 in the playoffs. Hronek 48 points to 0.
It's remarkable they are in the position they are with their top players playing like this.

Hronek is hurt, apparently pretty badly.
Miller and Hughes I got nothing for.
Edit - The Pettersson deal was not an over pay. It wasn't an amazing deal. It's what you pay for a young ppg center. Calling a long term deal bad before the deal even starts is some silly ####. Also, Supermatt is a jerk for making me respond to a post I didn't want to see. Mean ol' jerk.

Being carried by Boeser and Lindholm can only take you so far. Hopefully they have some goals left in them to finish this thing.
3 goals from your top 3 players is a joke.

This place and its obsession with people not posting at their pleasure and on their schedule continues to baffle me.

That's a bit misleading.
Miller, Hughes, and Boeser are all around a point per game and have had strong results overall. Just happens that Boeser is the one finishing all the plays.
Pettersson (4 points), Hronek (0 points), Hoglander (1 point) are more the issue.
