This thread couldn't have a more perfect name.

Not surprising about Hunter though. He is going to be very valuable to someone, and playing second fiddle to Dubas isn't the best progression in his career.

Like I said in the trade thread a while back but it would be great to have Dubas put his mark on this team by trading Hunter’s guy Marner to us for Hamilton who is a poster child for analytics when it comes to defensemen

I guess the Leafs had to choose one and I'm glad the Leafs chose Dubas.

I'm not sure what Hunter will do now. Maybe go along with Lou to the island.

But there always seemed to be teams sniffing around Dubas wanting to give him a GM job. I don't remember hearing anything like that with Hunter. Maybe Lou will groom him in NY like he did with Dubas in TO.

Would like him involved with us somehow. Could Treliving take a POHO role and we bring in Hunter as the new GM?

But...why? What makes you think Treliving doesn't want to be GM?

Whenever someone, anyone, in hockey becomes available there will be people that always try and plug them into the Flames somehow.

I can't see why Treliving would want to do this.

Makes a lot of sense. Although it's not mentioned yet you have to think Snow is done, at least as GM. Be probably stays with the team somewhere but it's Lou's show now and he'll probably want his own guy

I'm not sure Hunter does end up as GM of another team. He seems entrenched in Ontario. Dale could have had jobs elsewhere, but other than the brief stint in his longtime home of Washington, he's stayed put in London. Mark seems the same way. Wouldn't be surprised if he just goes back to the OHL.

I mean I guess not everything's about money, but I'm sure assistant GM of the Toronto Maple Leafs pays a lot better than GM in the OHL. Although it would suck to have a kid pass you on the hierarchy.

Brunt speculated he may stay in London until a GM position pops up. Currently there are no vacancies in the NHL.

He has ownership of the Knights as well. I'm not sure how lucrative that is, but if there's any OHL team I'd want to own it's definitely them.

With the 3 goalie fiasco, bad coaching choice, awful veteran free agent pickups, and last year’s very disappointing result, I think Treliving is far from being proven as a GM.

Who on earth would justify giving him a POHO position?

1. The 3 goalie fiasco is just as much on Hiller and Ramo as it is on Treliving
2. Agreed on GG but the jury is still out on Peters
3. Aside Brouwer, what free agent signing has Treliving made that was awful? Grossmann who was cut after one game? Who else?
4. I can't fault Treliving for last years results. He didn't play or coach the team.

What I like about Treliving is that every season he's identified the team's biggest weakness and attempted to fix it. His personnel choices might be questionable (Brouwer, Elliott), but IMO that's just as much on the pro scouts as it is on Treliving.

He made one of the best trades in Flames history in getting Dougie Hamilton, and maybe overpaid by one pick for Hamonic but bringing him in gave us a very solid top-4, even with Brodie's struggles.

I like Treliving and if he were fired I doubt he'd be out of a job too long.
