To me it is crazy that the only thing crazy people can rationalize is God, the craziest concept of all..

I don't think it's staged, but I do believe Hell's Kitchen probably knew beforehand just how bat**** crazy this couple was and took the opportunity to do a show around it and make them look even crazier. You can't tell me Ramsey had no idea what the restaurant was like before he stepped foot in there. I'm sure they do their research.

Part of reality TV is always staged. Words are moved out of context to make it much easier to swallow. They probably picked out the loudest and most obnoxious moments out of tens of hours of filming to off an impression. I mean, if you take a perfectly normal group of people and sit them in front of a camera and selectively pick and choose what to show, you'll only something...but at the same time, that will only get you so far. Some of the crazy has to actually exist.
EDIT - For those who missed the actual meltdown:

Yeah I find it impossible that people would invest in a business and run it this way unless the old guy was so rich that they thought it would be fun make up a fake restaurant and troll us all.

I don't know. Look at their history going back to 2010. They've been attacking Yelpers and online critics since then. I posted a video a couple pages back.
They have a history of being nuts.

Because the FBI gives a rat's ass about your facebook being hacked.
Not to mention, the facebook responses were alarmingly similar to the responses from the show.

Meh, the corner store by my old apartment was run a by a bunch of guys who pretty much treated customers the same way. On the phone yelling at someone most of the time when you walked in there and would make it known you were interrupting them to actually purchase something, the store was generally in disrepair and if you questioned them on something you pretty much got told to f off. They survived because their prices were competitive and they have a pretty big apartment complex across the street. And the 7-11 opened 4 doors down and they are screwed. Serves them right, if they weren't dicks I'd have gladly kept going there instead.

me too, I actually missed the very first part of it when they want the guy to pay for his pizza he didn't get. Now that is some crazy stuff.
I guess the whole premise of this was they wanted Chef Ramsay to come and prove to people their food was good and dispell the internet rumours. Hah, how did that work out.

There was a convenience store by my high school that did the same thing.

I believe that once Chef Ramsay tastes my food, that as a chef, he'll believe that this is what God wants me to do - Amy.
I think that explains a lot.
