I had a sneaking suspicion the Knights would try to add another goalie

They needed goaltending help. Makes complete sense.

lol... Fleury sure, but let's really impact our depth at goal.
Pacific teams in the playoffs have all gone heavy on improving this deadline. Assuming the flames don't do anything else, the flames just added to our 6/7 dman positions?!

Makes sense. Subban can't cut it if Fleury gets hurt. Good goaltending depth. Thought he'd go to Carolina, but I guess not.

I'm expecting it was pretty cheap. Chicago got what they could.

Carolina had to get a goalie somewhere right? They made a bunch of trades and then going to go with 3rd and 4th string guys while these Reimer and Mrazek heal?

Lehner has good stats wherever he plays, has size and projects well as a number 1 goalie, yet:
- gets dumped by the Isles and goalie guru Mitch Korn after a great season;
- can't get a long term contract from any team despite a lot of teams looking for a good goalie;
- seemingly puts up good numbers in Chicago who don't really have another goalie, yet opts to not give Lehner an extension or sign him long term.
Teams just don't want to commit to Lehner.

The Hawks boards suggest that Lehner wanted a 7 year term, and the Hawks didn't want to commit that long.
Crawford has also outplayed him the least 2 months.
Lehner was great easier in the season, but seems to have worn down. Of course, playing goal for Chicago is not easy.

He's actually been quite good in Fleury's previous extended absence. He doesn't do as well on a regular backup rotation.

Crawford has been steady the last few weeks...but the subtraction of Gustafsson can only improve the Blackhawk D zone coverage, helping the Goalies out. I expect a guy named Kevin Lankonen to be called up. Lankonen is the 'Hawks 2nd best prospect at goaltender, Colin Delia has been the #1 goalie at the Rock., and will probably remain there, as the playoffs approach for the AHL.

Lehner is a very good goalie and thats a good trade for Vegas. Will help solidify their spot at the top of the Pacific. Bad for the Flames though.

Malcom Subban is involved in the trade with the Chicago Blackhawks. Great insurance I’m goal for the Vegas Golden Knights with two number 1 goalies charging into the playoffs.

Slava Demin, VGK 4th rounder in 2018 who plays at University of Denver, is part of the Lehner trade, now heading to CHI.

This reminds me of 2017 when the Kings acquired Ben Bishop. Sure, he's a good goalie, but between him and Fleury, only one can play at a time...
