This feels like one of those deals where the selling GM has tunnel vision for one player: like Tallon was so determined to get Haula as part of the return that he wasn't all that interested in other offers, because one would have to think there would have been a bunch of good ones.

Weird.

Wonder what we are missing on Trocheck. Maybe injury risk/impact is bigger than reported.

Haula had some name value...but surely Bennet + Janko would have been similar or higher value...

It's weirder that he even wanted to deal Trocheck at all. I don't get this move. Like, AT ALL.

MAybe our prospects and younger bottom of the roster players just aren't that appealing.

For the Flames, might have meant including at least Mangiapane and/or Dube.

Wallmark is actually a really good piece for Florida. His advanced stats are great and he's a really good defensive forward. Flames equivalent would be Mangiapane for sure.

But I don't like the rest of the package at all really. Haula is a UFA, neither prospect really seems like a top piece to me (surprised Florida wouldn't push for Bean or Fleury).

Chris Johnston @reporterchris
Vegas receives a 2021 fifth-round draft pick from Carolina as a condition on the Erik Haula/Nicolas Roy trade from June 27, 2019 because Haula was part of today's deal to Florida. #SNTrade

Wow that is a very good piece of business by the Hurriances. Big upgrade from Haula to Trocheck and gave up more quantity than quality in return. If they manage to get some goaltending (repeat every year) they will be a tough, tough team.

As a right shot with a non-stop motor who can play centre and wing, is good in all three zones, and is a prick on the ice, I really would have been interested in pursuing him especially for that package. Tough one.

This is the trade that burns me the most today IMO. Trocheck would have been an excellent pickup for this roster. Cost was achievable with what we have to give up IMO. Big shame.

Agreed I can’t believe the Flames couldn’t have bested this offer and the Panthers wouldn’t have preferred to move him west. Haula is a pending UFA. This deal makes no sense for Florida.

Florida must really be certain they can get the 3rd spot over Toronto to strengthen a direct competitor for a wild card spot.

If we weren't stuck with Backlund for 4 more years @$5.35M we should have been in on him.

With how Toronto played on Saturday I would be surprised if every one of Florida, Montreal and Columbus don't feel certain about snatching that #3 spot from Toronto.

Do you mean Buffalo? It will be mighty difficult for Columbus to take the #3 spot from Toronto.
