For what it's worth, Parise is still damn good. 21 goals this year in 61 games. That contract stinks but wow he's gonna be fun to watch with Barzal. Might give the Isles some swagger.

Ladd signed until 2023 with 5.5m caphit but only another 3m in real money after this year. Comes with a modified NTC according to capfriendly.

Parise is a 7.5m caphit until 2025 and is owed 18m until then after this year with a NMC every year.

Nick Alberga @thegoldenmuzzy
Zach Parise, Patrick Marleau, Mike Green + Ilya Kovalchuk traded - what year is it?

Will be interesting to see who ads.

Parise is the better player, but 3 years left vs 5 years and Ladd has the cheaper cap hit.

Reminder that there is a cap recapture penalty associated with Parise if he retires before the contract is up:

Lee - Barzal - Eberle
Parise - Nelson - Bailey
Beauvillier - Pageau - Brassard
Martin - Cizikas - Clutterbuck
Komarov/Dal Colle

Forwards have been the weak part of the Isles this year but they're suddenly looking a LOT better.

Arthur Staple @StapeAthletic
Not saying it's done (and now that it's out, LL may decide it's dead), but heard Parise has waived his NTC and is ready to go. Wants to join the #Isles.

Honestly I have a ton of respect for Lou pulling a complete "#### it" trade like this

I actually think Parise can still be a big contributor. Good deal if Lou can pull this off.

David Pagnotta @TheFourthPeriod
Hearing same can be said for Ladd, he's also agreed to waive his NTC.

Wonder if either of Dal Colle or Ho-Sang are heading back to Minnesota.

You're mistaken. Ladd's remaining salary is just north of 3M, but he still has 9M in signing bonuses for a total owed of 12M beyond this year.

Parise has 18M owed following this year.

Parise has 21 goals this year. Ladd is in the AHL. If the Islanders don't add substantially this would be nothing less than a coup for New York.

I wouldn't say substantially, they have to add to Ladd for sure, but they are still taking a heap of a contract back.

Isles potentially gaining cap hit in this deal and about to sign Pageau to a long term deal. Could leave them open to a Barzal offer sheet this summer.

Just saying, they need to be careful

Looks like it didn't go through:

Michael Russo @RussoHockey
now
Bill Guerin presser is at 2:45, so that would also make it appear the Parise trade didn't go down. In addition to Parise waiving no-move, @FriedgeHNIC reported Andrew Ladd waived no-trade to come to Minnesota.

So appears complicated deal broke down late
