Also jordan is a player, Phil Jackson was NOT like that as the coach.

And the GOAT player at that too.
Very few players can be push their players that hard, and be respected enough that they allow it, and respond positively.

Would Peters still be the coach if that had not come out? Would Babcock be coaching the Leafs still if they were winning?
Peters was only hired two seasons ago and his style was well known. While I agree things are changing thankfully, I’m not convinced those two are the best examples.

There were other reasons for the Leafs wanting to get rid of Babcock. Scotty Bowman tactics and antics are not accepted anymore.
Players had enough of both Peters and Babcock. Tyranny doesn’t work.

I hope the Flames took off an extra $100k for the Talbot pull in game 6.

You know what? I agree with Cassie Campbell’s take on this that she shared tonight.
She put the blame on Rittich for not being ready and even said he wasn’t practicing hard enough.
Yeah, Ward should have taken a time out - but Rittich has to do a better job of coming off the bench as well. He was terrible.

Other teams put in their backups these playoffs and none of them looked like pee-wee goalies in the NHL. Its not like Rittich was the only guy in the playoffs that went in cold. Rittich's job is to be ready he is not just there to open the door...not to mention he was going to put Talbot back in but he had stormed out and took his gear off.
Ward's "big lie" everyone was talking about was just him not wanting to call out Talbot for having a tantrum

Great line item for the contract built right in.

Peters was outed for making a racist comment a decade ago and for abusing a former Hurricanes player a couple years ago.
None of us know Peters personally, so we cannot determine if he is racist or not based on a single incident a decade ago.

Not accepted by whom?
I don’t care for these types of coaches but we should acknowledge they’re still around and still get hired. Flames didn’t hire Peters in the 80’s and the players not liking him had nothing to do with him resigning.

Players not liking him had a big impact on their unwillingness to play hard for him.

I was done with Peters after the first game of the season, where he showed he had no idea what to do against the Avs, after having a whole summer to cook something up. "Does this guy have another gear as a coach?" No.
Does Ward have another gear as a coach? I guess we'll see.
The idea that pulling Talbot was of any importance in that series mystifies me. They let in 7 unanswered. Did you think Rittich was going to score a goal too? Flames totally caved, and never looked like dominating that series (save for the first period of that fateful game).
I don't care who coaches this team, really. Until Johnny forechecks, until Monahan gain force a zone entry, until there's 6 NHL quality d men on the ice, the coach ain't the issue.

Khudobin ( on NBC) just affirmed my point, in his comments , regarding Bowness and his ability to build relationships and instill a positive atmosphere.

True enough.
You want to know when you win?
When your team’s best players play better than the other team’s best players.
