Before last year, it was the Leafs. They’re a great hockey team too.

Wish we had a Matthews, Nylander and Marner combo ourselves.

Am I a closet Leafs fan now?

Why is it not possible that he simply believes the Oilers are a good team that are a threat to win the cup?

I just get tired of the constant over-reaction to someone holding that view.

It's cool to think that.

But being a Flames fan and going out of your way to defend them the way he has is kind of weird no?

The internationalvillager is the the obviously the WhiteMudVillager

I just honestly believe that, as Flames fans, we need to stop trashing the Oilers in non “E=NG” threads because it makes us looks biased and uneducated.

They’re likely going to be a good hockey team this year and most probably next year.

Their chances of threatening for the Cup increased with Draisaitl signing his extension prior to the year as there will be no locker room distractions. Other issues might come up as they always do but it won’t be this one.

To who? And why do we care?

It’s called a rivalry.

You know what makes someone look biased and uneducated? Spewing total inaccuracies about things you don't anything about, like how betting odds are formulated, how contracts work, etc. It is much better to say nothing than to spew bull####. Moving the goalposts every time someone refutes your claim doesn't help either - or calling everyone who disagrees with you, biased.

Well now you are going too far.
They are no good. And that's what the thread is for.

We are biased though. Edmonton sucks...period. Everything about it sucks and is no good.

If Edmonton didn't suck I would move there. Luckily for me it sucks and everything about it sucks and will always suck. Who cares if their odds to win a Stanley Cup improved. They still suck and will always suck

Lol. The fact that they are a decade into McDavid era, a generational superstar, and haven't won a thing and only have one finals appearance, is the definition of total failure. Edmonton has so far totally botched their chance to win and to build a team around two superstar caliber players. I'm not sure what else anyone can objectively say at this point. It's really hard to understand why anyone would want to pump their tires.

Haha yeah. They have 55+ posts in this thread alone defending the Oilers honor. Definitely not an Oilers fan though.

LOL

Uneducated.

Just say it. You are a Oiler troll. What Flames fan goes out of their way to defend those bums like you have? You even called a scrub prospect elite.

Just say it, you wear sweatpants to weddings and clip your toenails during the ceremony.

And a miracle of a 16-game winning streak. Take both those stretches out of the equation, and you're left with a 31-18-5 record, which puts them on a 102-point pace. That's two fewer points than they actually got, and would have left them tied with Boston for… wait for it… 9th overall.

It'd be awesome if Draisaitl showed up at camp 40 pounds over weight, and demanded to be served hot dogs and bon bonnes between periods.

And whenever they go to talk to him about it, he holds up his contract and shakes it in their faces.

But those season ticket holders have paid to watch a generational superstar every single game for a decade. It's the entertainment business. Atleast you're entertained and worth the price you pay for your ticket.

After the 2022 playoffs and what happened in the summer, I am on full team tank. I want the Flames to have their own generational superstar talent.

McDavid/Draisaitl
Matthews/Marner
Mackinnon/Rantanen

Why can't we have our own? We can. I believe we are on that path now and I hope the organization sticks to it.

Now this is turning into pure entertainment for me at how many adults (or kids) get triggered by someone simply saying the Oilers will have a good couple of years.

Matthew Savoie is now a scrub. Says no one reputable.

I would never live there either. I actually don't live in Calgary either but being as it is my hometown it's much nicer.

That's not all you're saying though. You're saying other silly #### like Pissy will start his new contract in his year 29 season when 94% of the regular season he will be 30.

Many people have also acknowledged the Oilers have two more seasons to win the Cup while McDavid is still in his current contract. It's after that where they're skeptical with them being the oldest team in the league and having to renew expensive contracts.

If they win this season, they will be the oldest team in history to have done so.

It feels like a massive stretch for an old team, coming off a long playoff run, to get through four rounds successfully in today's game. I think they missed their best chance, and it gets more and more remote moving forward.
