On one hand it seems "obvious" that they need doing, yet some googling and there's a lot of naysayers. Let us know please.

thx.

Plenty of CP posters have excellent overall experiences with Keith at My Furnace Guy, myself included for a few different homes.

Book him while you can during his least busy season.

Keith,

Given the lack of AC in the house and want to get some fresh air into the home, is it safe and ok to run the air exchange stage of the furnace/fan blower? It's an older but well maintained furnace (24 years). I don't mind running it to cool the house down but I don't want to burn the motor or damage the furnace and can just buy a few more fans for the house.

Quick thought?

Please ensure #1 that you are not running any kind of 3M filter or Kirkland Filter in there at anytime!!!
Anything with a Merv rating 6 or higher will burn that motor out ....thats on all furnaces not just yours.
You should be fine then running the ventilation fan / Summer fan.
Lastly ....furnace filters need monthly changing regardless for the best performance

For those trying to filter out forest fire smoke....make darn sure your changing those filters during +10 air quality daily. Otherwise your pulling ash into your intake duct of your house furnace and then your whole system is contaminated.

Using Merv 8 at the highest. Otherwise your asking for trouble. Especially with 2 stage fully modulating motors

Just wanted to post about an alarming amount of unregistered furnaces I've been working on. Furnaces that are 15 years old and newer aren't registered for warranty nor have they ever Is been registered by the installer.

This is even in NEW construction BTW. You have a limited window and should always ensure new furnsces are registered for warranty entitlement.

Have questions .? I'm here to a answer.

We just had Keith in to take a look at the furnace in our new home recently. He is a wealth of knowledge, extremely thorough, and really cares about having the job done right. We definitely would recommend him for anything related to your homes furnace!

Keith just came over and checked out my furnace that had a blower problem. After having Reliance come and blow smoke up my butt it was great to have Keith come out and have an honest assessment. Definitely found our furnace guy for life. Highly recommend!

All I hear the past 3 years from customers using BIG recognized companies is that fear, shaming, guilt trips used by salespeople are how they're trying to sell.

Older furnaces typically don't need to be changed u less something Seriously catastrophic has gone wrong with it.

High pressure sales tactics that are used especially on older people elderly people Are quite frankly disgusting. If you ever want a second opinion please reach out to me And I can come and do a free inspection for anybody on Calgary Puck.

New furnaces are over $7000 so think about thatWhen somebody is trying to high pressure sell you.
