Geography will be a huge consideration, for sure. Even without Canada and Mexico involved, the US is a pretty massive place.
I'd expect the group stage to held in little geographic clusters, and then the latest rounds will be all in the US. I doubt that anyone will be going from Edmonton to Mexico City, and even if they did for the round of 32, for example, there should be a few days in between.

The amazing NDP wouldn’t sack up the 30-50 mill required for the bid for Vancouver. Such idiots

I'm really excited about the possibility of Croatia playing in Edmonton in a World Cup game. I never thought in my life I be able to see that in person because of the distance it normally would be. This is really cool stuff and hopefully it will all help build our Dreadful soccer program

That's what people were expecting/hoping in 1994.
Ireland in 1994 had games over 1600km apart in New York and Orlando. Meanwhile Argentina had two games up the road in Foxboro and a third in Dallas.
Geographically it's a nightmare to try and follow a team.

I remember Ireland got screwed because they were in Italy's group and the geography was catered to them. If Ireland had gotten another group it might be been better. They really wanted the Irish in Boston but that ended up being Group D.
Italy's first 3 games were New York, Washington, New York
Ireland's were New York, Orlando, New York
That was dumb, why stick an Orlando game in that group. Then Ireland finished 2nd and had to go back to Orlando.
Italy finished 3rd in the group and just went to Boston. They really could have gone anywhere as a wildcard. They got lucky.

I’m dying laughing right now reading the reddit thread on this that’s on the front page.
Canada
USA
Mexico
When put in that order, it makes one hell of an acronym.

World class city and it's not included. It's beyond ridiculous for Vancouver not to host the largest sporting event on the planet. A city that is multicultural and based on tourism - imagine the benefit and amount of city scenery shots Van would've gotten far surpassing the 50 mil requirement across the planet. I won't even mention the MLS factor. The BC government spent $650 mil to renovate BC place so they can host what.. the Lions and Garden shows. With a change in government, would there be any way Vancouver could get added since locations aren't set completely in stone?

Could it be that Vancouver is a dome and thus would not have real grass? If I am not mistaken the other three cities all have outdoor stadiums that would accomodate turf. The women played on turf but the men will not accept anything but grass.
Also am wondering what this might do to Calgary's chance of hosting the 2026 Olympics. Both events are the same year and both require significant government funding (Olympics much more) and there may not be an appetite for that much of a cash outlay for both events.

Montreal is set to host games at the Big O. I can only imagine what they'll spend to bring it up to a FIFA standard. It has to be one of the worst stadiums in North America. As part of the 2011 renovations, BC Place has a retractable room.
2026 would be a heck of a year with the World Cup, Winter Olympics and Flames hoisting the Stanley Cup in a newly built barn.

They played games inside domes in 1994. Louisiana Superdome was one, iirc. They put natural grass in for that.
And the women were pissed that they had to play on turf.

They were indeed, and in fairness it was really low-budget turf.

BC Place's retractable roof is like 5x5 feet.

Vancouver did not want to get bent over by FIFA, they backed off right after Chicago did. Probably a good decision.
