Avatar the Last Airbender. Maybe on its own it would have been just terrible but ruining such great source material puts it near top at least.

Speed 2

I used to work at a movie theater and it was the only free movie that I've ever walked out of.

You pretty much get the idea of how bad it is from this clip:

I was forced to sit through The Man From Earth. It feels like someone's underground Christian story

The worst movie I paid money to see in a theatre was The Fast & The Furious.

Actually, I also paid to see Assassin's Creed, but I expected that to be awful, so it kind of gets a pass even though it's worse than TF&TF.

As I've aged I find I have less tolerance for bad movies so I avoid anything that is subpar so I really can't remember too many stinkers of late. The DC movies typically disappoint but are tolerable. Worst of all time for me is still Armageddon. You know it's next level bad when Michael Bay apologizes for it.

Legion.

I love Paul Bettany, but this was special kinds of bad. One of the only films I've ever felt like walking out in the middle of.

The best part about this movie was walking out and proclaiming "Thir13en Ghosts? I want my Thir13en dollars back!"

It felt clever at the time.

One of my best friends in the world (well until recently), we went back about 30 years and we had this thing called, the list. it was the holy list of the worst movies we've ever seen.

There was one rule. The movie couldn't have one redeeming scene in it, not one good action sequence, or a moment that made you laugh, or a piece of dialogue that was passable. The movie also couldn't be a sequel so that eliminated Highlander 2 and 3. Also the studios that made sharknado and other rip off movies, and national lampoons studio movies were eliminated because they intentionally made terrible movies.

Because of that, the List was nearly impossible to get onto, it had to be a special combination of bad effects, bad acting by actors that either you'd never heard of, or actors that looked like they had completely given up on their career, and a cringe worthy concept wrapped in a incredible poop wrapper of electronic synth music.

Because of the falling out, I don't feel guilty about revealing the exclusive and not so proud members of the list.

1) The Hidden starring Kyle Mclachlan - This steaming pile was built around two body stealing aliens fighting across earth. The Villain is a slimy looking worm thing that likes heavy metal, fast cars and loose woman. The heroic alien a beam of golden light. That alone tells you everything you should know. KM acted like he knew this could end his career. The effects were bad, and the plot stupid and the whole thing dumb. it almost didn't make the list due to the car chase, but managed to squeek on

2) Richie Rich - starring Macaulay Culkin - This one hit the list because it cost me about $20.00. Me and my friend came home from the bar just hammered and decided to watch a movie. This was in the early days of renting movies at home with Shaw, and I had the cable box because I had rented a WWF event the day before. So we drunkenly selected Richie Rich. This thing was horrible in every way. My friend got up to leave half way through, and I grabbed him and threw him at the couch and told him he had to watch it until the end. Later that month I got my cable bill and told him that he owed me $10.00, he never did pay me.

3) Spacehunter adventures in the Forbidden Zone - Unbelievable crap starring a young Molly Ringwald, one of my favorite heavies actors as a heavily made up clearly embarrassed Michael Iron Side as the evil Overdog. Peter Strauss as the Space Hunter a Han Solo rip off who was never that cool but dressed the same way. This movie was originally released in 3d where you had to wear those blue and red cardboard glasses, but that didn't help this piece of crap.
It almost didn't make the list because one of the worst scenes where Overdog demands that three woman are stripped in front of him almost got a laugh because of how mortified Michael Ironside looked as he bellowed "No slowly"

Some of my worst experiences in a movie theatre. Some of these were in a film festival setting.

Basic Instinct 2
Downsize
Elektra
Freedomland
Hardcore Logo 2
The Immaculate Conception of Little Dizzle
League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
Southland Tales

Solaris -- the one with Clooney and Natascha McElhone. God, what a misfire.

Left Behind with Nic Cage is also just truly wretched filmmaking.

In a theatre - Sex And The City 2

Ebert’s review:

Some of these people make my skin crawl. The characters of "Sex and the City 2" are flyweight bubbleheads living in a world which rarely requires three sentences in a row. Their defining quality is consuming things

Zoolander 2

All seen in theatre.

All just excruciatingly terrible.

You haven't seen Left Behind, then. As a general rule, I'd agree with you, but Left Behind is a dull, meandering, and stranglingly-uncreative exercise that doesn't actually allow Cage to do anything interesting. He's there, and that's about it. It's by far his least-enjoyable film.
