Default Used Auto Parts in Alberta

hello,

I am trying to find a good place to pick up used auto parts for a 2008 Toyota Yaris Sedan. I am in Red Deer, but would anyone know of any good place to find used auto parts for imported vehicles in Alberta?. I need a front bumper replaced, and a rear tail light. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Pick n' Pull has always been excellent for me. I was mostly looking for domestic parts, but the lot is big,

Here she is, with a booboo at the front. I'm trying to find a good deal online. I tried Pick n Pull online, but it seems the only part they have may be in Surrey, BC. I will phone the Calgary branches tomorrow.

Tyler12, if you can do that, I would greatly appreciate it!

Well I managed to find a front bumper cover. Now I need a auto body shop, or expert that can install it. The places I look at in Red Deer charge way too much. It looks relatively easy, and if I had the tools, and better mechanical aptitude, i would try it myself.

Would anyone know of a garage/auto body shop in southern Alberta or Calgar that can do this relatively affordable. I was given a quote for $500+. Too much considering the damage isn't too bad. Any input would be appreciated.

I'm looking for an auto body shop who can do it rather inexpensive, as I am taking a temporary layoff from my job. I have heard it takes roughly 2.8 hours in labour. I have all the parts, and just wondering what would be the cost of 3 hours labour.

Bodywork labour generally goes for around $85 an hour

That's great. I took it to this Auto Body shop near Red Deer and they quoted it at around $550. I thought that was fairly steep considering I ahve all the replacement parts. If I could get it done for under $300.00 I would be happy. I will have to check around, but if you know any good shops in the Calgary area, I could always drive an hour.

I just had a similar issue with a front bumper on a Ford fiesta. Had it repaired at the crowfoot Ford. Labor was 3 hrs at $320 total. Only downside, is they are overbooked, took 2 months to get a spot. Might be worth giving them a call.

Might be a good DIY, looks to be 4 plastic bumper clips across the top between the headlights and a screw attaching the bumper to the fender on each side. I'll be in my garage in Red Deer during Easter if you want to PM me and stop by. I'm fairly confident I can change it over in an hour, unless there's more to what needs to be repaired.

Yeah definitely do it with a buddy and save you the cost (assuming it's painted). Couple bolts in wheel wells, engine bay and underneath and your good to go. Put on a few bumpers of mine by myself not challenging

It really shouldn't matter what condition the bumper is in since it's being replaced, not repaired. $500 is way too much for labour.

Make sure you change out the bumper reinforcement bar (steel piece) as it is also damaged and the bumper absorber (foam thing) as well.

I thought it looked like it was damaged too, or it was just dirt from the open damaged area. If the reinforcement bar needs to be replaced (which I would recommend, because if it is compromised it won't stand up as designed if you were to have another collision).

Did you get an appraisal from a collision center?

Yes it is. I was thinking that it didn't look too bad, and was mainly cosmetic damage. I just picked up a front bumper and grill that I need to take in to paint. Is it really essential to replace the reinforcement bar?

Having said that, I was getting quotes around $550 from a couple of auto body shops (without touching the reinforcement bar), just for changing out the old bumper, and replacing it with my new bumper and painting the parts I bought. Seems rather expensive. It looks like they want to charge for :

Paint materials/sheet metal= $250.00
Grille Assembly=0.6 hrs
Front bumper cover overhaul=1.5 hrs
Front bumper cover refinish =3.8 hrs
Sheet metal = $117.00

Total labour = 5.9 hours ($460.00)
tax = $35.00

Total =$745.00

-----

I'm beginning to wonder if I should have just exchanged information. This happened on Feb 28, and the other car was not damaged at all, so the guy that I bumped said not to worry about it, as I underestimated the cost, and didn't want to go through insurance, as my rates would be increased. He said it looked like 200-300 damage, and I took his word for it....lol.

Yup. It was maybe one foot long. I Actually stopped an inch or so from hitting the vehicle. The damage was done though...

If anyone can recommend a good affordable shop anywhere between Calgary and Alberta I will look into it. too bad there is a 2 month waiting list at Crowfoot Ford.

Pick n' Pull for sure or check out the Beyond Forum. I am sure someone on there will know exactly where to go.

If you ever saw the price of paint materials you would be shocked how much things actually cost.
