I take it you didn't end up going with them? I'm not sure whether it would just lead to the same issues in a different way. Maybe I just need to clean the eaves more regularly and kind of bite the bullet!

I didn’t, but he also mentioned they can snap on as an aftermarket purchase as well. I was going from a 4” to 5” gutter. It didn’t rain much this year but I haven’t had an issue yet

Can anyone recommend a carpet installer? Really simple job, two rooms and should only require one seam at the threshold.

Might be losing the fight with the lady over flooring, but I’m not going down without a fight. Hard floors in a basement can f right off.

Sorry but I'm with your lady on this one. Hard flooring on a basement floor is fine. Too many people overthink it.

I personally think carpet is nasty. Just builds up dust and dirt that is impossible to clean properly.

Plus it will really tie the room together.

F that. That’s what a vacuum is for. It’s a basement floor, I’m not eating off it.

Hard floors are brutal acoustically, uncomfortable, and flat out sucks. Putting in an floor that you need to cover with another $700 in area rugs? Doesn’t make sense. Plus, you still need to clean those area rugs anyway.

If I ever buy another house and it has carpet - it's the first thing to go. Especially if it's an older home and/or they had pets

Anyone else on team cork flooring? God I miss it. I loved how easy it was to clean and how extra durable it was compared to hard wood. It wasn't as soft or warm as carpet, but Was decently comfy to stand on and with an underlay it wasn't really cold at all. The only problem is how limited the colors and styles are.

My carpet is disgusting. My hardwood... Dented and scratched. My kids sure did a number on both types of flooring. I bet cork would have laughed off pots and pans falling on them or food/snacks and dirt ground into them.

Wyze. You're limited to 14 seconds of video for each event if you don't subscribe to their cloud plan, but it works just fine. If you have a regular deadbolt you can also buy their smartlock to attach to it, so you can open the door from the same app

Whatever you do, don't buy a lorex. Sure they don't need a subscription but they are so much more inferior to a ring it isn't even close.

I bought one and used it for a few days and returned it. Ring is miles ahead in every category.

I've had both. No complaints with either, except that the Ring doorbell is Amazon so they own you, your data, your descendants and your ancestors.

You didn't mind Lorex not differentiating between a car, person or animal like ring does? That can save you so much time and headache.

I just set up the zones and sensitivity. But my current Lorex has person detection too. Maybe yours was old gen? I have the B451AJ model.

All of their current cameras state they have person, pet, and package detection on them. Wyze does too, but only if you pay for the subscription. I'd actually be interested in swapping my Wyze stuff out for Lorex if it wasn't so pricey
