That's actually a pretty impressive site, emti. I thought it'd be like an excel spreadsheet with a statement on top. Well done.

That said, I disagree with banning truck traffic from that road. I fully support twinning it, however. If the mission was more along the lines of "ban trucks from HWY 8 until it is twinned", I'd probably sign it. But as it is, I just don't agree with banning trucks from a route that was used for a long time, just because the area suddenly saw huge suburban growth.

Surviving a head on collision with something the same size as you takes a minor miracle. If the guy had run head-on into a passenger vehicle instead, he would probably still be dead and would probably have taken others with him. Banning trucks from a road like that is totally nonsensical. The issue of banning trucks is totally different from the issue of twinning a road, so I don't think it's fair to tell people to sign something they disagree with just because they would be signing something.

Basically everyone is saying that people need to pay more attention while they are driving.
Most are also saying that this is likely the best trucking route.

In conclusion most are saying they do not agree.

For the record, I did not create or have anything to do with the site or any of this. I am just someone who lost 2 friends there. I agree with all of you on the fact that twinning should be done in the first place, which i stated when this thread was originally created. So i understand and do agree that removing the trucks really isnt the proper alternative im just saying it doesnt hurt to take the time and sign the petition in hopes for some sort of change on this road.

I don't know if you understand petitions...you realize if you want me to sign it, you're asking me to support your position. If I do not support your position, I do not sign it. The harm in trying "even if you don't agree" is that now I would be on a list of people who apparently agree that trucks should be banned from Highway 8. That is not a fair representation of my opinion.

I support measures to increase driver safety like the suggested increased enforcement against aggresive and/or distracted drivers on the road. Write a petition about that, and you'll get my name on it.

It's actually a pretty good grade. If you're bored in traffic, drive from 16th to Bow via Sarcee, set your cruise, and pay attention to where your tach is, and how many times it downshifts. You'd probably be surprised at the extra effort even a passenger vehicle takes on that route.

If you drive a stick, leave the car in 5th and try to keep it at a steady speed near the speed limit.
