Gillies also looked pretty good with 39 saves. That Bakersfield player throwing his stick at the end was just stupid.

Freddie Hamilton is on the team for Dougie Hamilton who needs him for emotional support throughout the season.

Don't know why they can't just give him an office job within the organization to fulfill those duties though.

Stajan/Glass/Brouwer - pick 1 to sit in the press box every night.

Now entering his third season in Calgary, Hamilton will freely acknowledge that he is an unrepentant homebody. He and his older brother Freddie live together and share tasks around the house. In the kitchen, Freddie will do the barbecuing, for example, while Dougie does the work of the sous chef. Freddie does the driving, to and from the rink. The two played together in junior for the OHL Niagara Ice Dogs, and their parents, Doug and Lynn, moved from Toronto to St. Catharines, Ont., effectively to be their billets.
From Eric Duha's article on Hamilton posted on The Athletic.

https://theathletic.com/112144/2017/...ugie-hamilton/

Dougie Hamilton acquired on June 26, 2015 and signed extension on June 30, 2015.

Freddie Hamilton acquired on October 4, 2015 for a 7th round pick. He plays 1 season with Stockton and then has been an extra forward ever since.

At this point, I think that there was a handshake deal between Dougie and the Flames that because of him extending his contract, they would acquire Freddie as well when they could.

Indeed. Gillies made some amazing saves in that highlight package- a very good sign.

In Jankowski's interview he does show a great attitude about being sent down, what his intentions are but also emphasizing Stockton team goals. The marks of a leader.

Once he's up with the big team I see him having a substantial impact.

Really? Then why exactly is he not on the roster? Because the team doesn't want him in a 4th line role? Then I have an idea don't play him on the 4th line.

No you send Hamilton down and you sit Brouwer, Stajan,or Glass and you figure out a way to get him on your top 3 lines. It's not like this team is full of goal scoring machines.

Even without that crazy Oiler like announcer it was hard not to notice Gillies was amazing.

SJ has/had crazy center depth for years. Know what they did to have the one of the most potent top six forwards for a little g time? Move some centers to the wing.

Janko IMO is a top six forward. Cram him in there. Sacrifice Ferland if you have to.

Should not have to be because of an injury, he should just be on the team. It's a no ####ing brainer, I honestly don't understand the rationale of not putting our best team on the ice. That's why people are so irritated. GG's comments about Stajan worry the hell out of me, shows something is off. That's the last I'll say about the Janko situation, it just makes no sense.

I hope it's not going to take losing games for the Flames to call him up.

I think my favourite thing about Kisker's PBP is that he doesn't break cadence at all when the opposition scores. If you were listening on the radio you wouldn't even notice.

Jankowski should and will be up here. I think it's politics and maneuvering, things we can't judge on because we aren't in that job. What it really entitled. Behind doors items, but I do believe in Brad trying what he can to get him up here.

I also believe that this year is Gillies proving hear and next year if he keeps it up is a solid split or stealing the job.

What do you mean "in the same boat?"

If we made a swap with Vegas and we want to seriously compete this year we would need to trade for Marc Andre Fleury

He has another fail as well, his name is Brouwer, every GM screws up and makes mistakes but only the best can fix them!

Since you don't understand, allow us to explain it to you. In a salary cap system, asset management is critically important to long-term success. You have to spend your limited financial resources efficiently.

Brouwer was a mistake of a signing. Everyone, including Treliving, is aware of that. Stajan is exactly what you want in a fourth line player, albeit overpaid. These salary problems don't go away if you scratch them every night. You also can't send either down to Stockton; that would only provide you with $950k in cap relief.

Instead of simply scratching either player, you need to make room on your roster for Jankowski. Treliving even said as much in his interview regarding Jagr. Jankowski will be up, but they need to make some roster moves first.

Jankowski is a top 9 player and needs to continue playing big minutes in order to develop. He's not going get that playing 8 minutes a night on the fourth line, so let's not pretend signing Tanner Glass is what kept him from making the team right away.

Jankowski will continue to develop in the AHL, that's not hindering his progress at this point. As soon as Treliving can make room on the roster through a trade, Jankowski will be up with the big club.

This is about what's best for the team long term even if that apparently conflicts with what's best for the team in the short term.

Gaudreau - Monahan - Ferland
Tkachuk - Backlund - Frolik
Jankowski - Bennett - Jagr
Versteeg - Stajan - Brouwer

Lazar, Glass extras

Seem like a pretty strong lineup IMO
