The Hockey News had a whole tournament of names a number of years ago, that included players from a variety of leagues. The final four were Miles Death, Godric Tham, Wacey Rabbit and Kane LaFranchise, with the latter winning the whole thing. It was pretty great. Unfortunately the bracket appears to have fallen into an internet abyss.

Starting March 26, our name tournament opened up to your voting and after six rounds, we are left with out ultimate name: Kane Lafranchise. Ranked as a No. 4 seed in the opening brackets, Lafranchise took down Ryan Thang, Hunter Shinkaruk, Jagger Dirk, Kale Kerbashian, Godric Tham and, in the final, Wacey Rabbit. The last round of voting was close, with Lafranchise taking it 52 percent to 48 percent.

Back in the early 90s I had a friend who played for the regina Pat's and remember watching a game they played against lethbridge and one of the guys names was I believe Polychronopoulous( or close to that). I found it funny that the name was so long the nameplate started half way up his left arm across his back and down his right arm.

https://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/....php?pid=22948 -- 16 letter last name.
2 letters longer than this guy, who has the longest (non-hyphenated) surname in NHL history: https://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/....php?pid=29871 (but he played in the days before they put names on jerseys).
Longer than Nugent-Hopkins, even if you count the hyphen, and only 1 letter shorter than Forsbacka-Karlsson (2, if you count the hyphen).

Not hockey, or even professional sports, but any best name in athletic history conversation is incomplete without this gem, whose parents must have been confident in his ability to succeed in at least one field.

I also always thought Leventé Szuper was a super name.

I caught an official game puck at a Saint John Flames game in 2001. When you brought it to customer service you could get it autographed and mailed to you later, and I debated for almost the whole game between two players: Chris Clark, or Levente Szuper.
My signed Levente Szuper puck sits on my desk at work in all its glory.
Still kinda regret not going with Clark tbh haha.

Darius Kasparaitis was one I really liked. Also Kaspars Daugavins. I guess Latvians just have cool sounding names.
Ibe always liked the name Maxim Afinogenov too.
