Picked up some beer from them this weekend, The pilsGnar and My best friends girl Kolsch, bot solid beers. They had low stock when I was there.

Went a couple times prior to the pandemic and really liked their beers and the ambiance in their brewery.

"Solid" is a fair way to describe their offerings. It's nothing life-changing, though. Establishment has always struck me as "just another Calgary taproom". It's just fine, perfectly enjoyable, nothing to write home about or bring to out of town friends to try, but not disappointing either.

I do like it a little better on the beer side than Annex next door, but the food at Annex is great.

I think Establishment is going after the "beer nerd" demographic. Things like a Helles, the kolsch served in stanges, some interesting wild fermentation projects, barrel aged beers, brett beers are all things that appeal to me but I can understand if they have limited appeal. I really dig how experimental they can be.

It looks like Establishment allows you to bring in/order in your own food. And they have Glamorgan cheese buns.

I've always been fond of Kolsch. I don't think they currently make a cider.

ok a COVID long weekend calls for some beer

and in my case, am going with some Double IPAs

first up- tried myself some "May Long" from Blindman-- the first one definitely hit the spot, and some great May long weekend packaging to boot

next up- Float Along by Establishment, will be trying later today I hope

and just so its not all DIPA all the time also looking forward to sampling the City of Dreams Vienna Lager from Cabin

what other local brews are folks going to enjoy this weekend?
