So how about the refs stop blowing the whistle down on high sticks they aren't sure on because teams will challenge if they play should have been blown dead. It's comical if a team loses the Stanley Cup on a like that.

All joking aside. Big decision for the Conman in the offseason is going to be whether he wants to ingrain being a loser in his young players.

Buffalo west.

Also, IMO, Flames are likely to pick the same player in the 3-5 spot range they are likely to pick at, given the standings.

The Flames aren't anywhere close to Buffalo West, c'mon now. Not even if they pick in the top 10 three years in a row.

This is completely normal for any team looking to build for the future

Yeah, but in all seriousness it’ll be tough to change the trajectory at this point. I mean, we really aren’t in much of a position to go signing free agents at the moment, I think that would be a terrible mistake.
It looks as though we have 4 or 5 years ahead of us spent on building. We should be using our cap space to acquire picks/prospects by facilitating trades for others for the next few deadlines and there’s a real possibility that we will be losing 40 to 45 games a year in that time.

Team needs to continue to lose these points. It is strategic!

Why? We want Vegas playing Edmonton round 1. Vegas wins plus Kings losses is good!

This isn’t a Buffalo situation. These guys aren’t dumb. They know what the objective is.

Go out compete. The results will be the results and as we add more talent through the draft and other ways we will get rewarded.

I don't worry about a "losing culture". Here's why.

The players who were worth a damn before the team fell apart will find their game again if and when the team is trying to compete. There are a lot of players on the team right now that won't be around when they get good again as well. The only thing I want to see is the kids competing their asses off and learning how to play strong systems hockey. These experiences of losing will push them in the off-season to get better and train harder. They will come back in the Fall stronger for having gone through it.

Or, they won't. Which is fine too. Why? Because if you can't have enough work ethic and character to handle losing, you'll never have the work ethic and character to be a great player.

Losing cultures happen because the players just aren't good enough. If they were good enough they wouldn't be losing so many games and be a part of that "losing culture".

20 points out or 2 points out, doesn't matter, the team cares, so should the coach and this would be as good a reason as any to show that intensity and that he has their backs.
Huska show some fire? That's hilarious!

I can’t remember what the cap floor is. But if they dump markstrom and Mangiapane in the summer Conman is going to have a ton of cap room.

There is no such thing tanking leading to a losing culture, there is just poor management and poor decisions that lead to a losing culture .

Coming in last doesn't mean you're guaranteed to have a losing Culture, Colorado is pretty good example of that.

Teams like Buffalo and Columbus stay bad because they have bad managment and made bad decisions, not because of a losing culture they created by tanking.

Thankfully he's going to get some runway here to try to work through these lapses. It's a great opportunity and if I were the Flames, I'd give Markstrom only 3-4 games.

Lots of flexibility and options.

Just don’t F it up.

Cap floor is $61.7 this year. If the rumoured cap is going up $4 million is true the Flames could be near the floor if they dump Markstrom and eat bread.
