Fair enough maybe that was a bit aggressive, but I dunno for me it comes across as her trying to influence his decision indirectly and exert control. All I know is that I'd be pissed if my parents were trying to influence me like that. I was just surprised reading that article, he's an adult.

Don't know if it's been said already in this thread, but his Advisor is also Craig Conroy's former agent and advisor when he was at college. So the advisor has personal ties to Flames management, probably wouldn't want to pull a fast one on them.

Sign that contract and get paid!!! Sure would suck for him if he decides to play out that last year and along the way suffers a serious injury that threatens his career. Very unlikely that it would happen but that's not to say it cant.

I don't want to hate on Johnny like Tom Erixon or Schultz so he will be a Flame.

She just want what's best for her kid, like most mothers do. As far as talking to the media it's not like she called a press conference. Perhaps she'll learn about talking to the press and censor her responses next time.
Any poster running her down is doing so because they want Johnny safely signed and in a Flames jersey. Sounds like selfish behavior to me.

Publicly? Yes. Of course I know nothing about the situation but that was just my personal experience reading the article. Parents have the right (and possibly the obligation) to influence and give guidance to their adult kids, but the fact that she's doing so in the public realm seems weird and creeps me out for some reason. And she's not just saying "we give him the best guidance and advice we can but we support him" she's literally taking a strong stance and expressing it loudly. So yes.
I just want him to sign haha.

In regards to Gaudreau signing I think most on CalgaryPuck are always at a DEFCON 3.
The news in the NY Times article this morning brought that to a DEFCON 1 level.
Now that Morganti clarified his position on the radio we are probably at DEFCON 2.

I think theres a few that will be at DEFCON 1 until they receive a certified true copy of JGs ELC notorized by a lawyer and sent by email, fax and the originals in the mail.

She is just being a mom, and doesn't want to see her "baby" leave. She likely just being a little protective but she has her sons best interests at heart. He is being a good son, I really admire the fact he tries to do the right thing by his family!

I'm sure that insulting Gaudreau's mother and questioning her motivation regarding her son is the best course of action to take in order to ensure he signs with the Flames.

What's best for her kid, both now and long term, is to sign that contract. And I don't say that as a greedy Flames fan who just wants to see Gudreau play. I say that as someone with common sense.
Johnny will make more in a year by signing a pro contract than he would in 10 years scrubbing toilets, or whatever it is you're qualified to do with an undergraduate degree in communications these days.

Sheesh my mother still held my hand going across the street when I was 40 years old. You only have one mom and they don't always want to let go. When my mom passed away recently I sat at her bedside in the hospital and of course I understood how important those moments with my mom were. She was my friend, she didn't want to go and I didn't want her to go. Moms are awesome, influence us, its just because they care. Nothing wrong with that!
Anyways I'm excited for Johnny can't wait to see him setting up Monahan!

As a parent, I can see her side, of wanting her son to finish school, and have a degree.
However he is a hockey player, and a great one at that. So the family has lived the life of hockey for years now, seems weird that when all his hard work and dedication, along with the parents is paying off, she's pushing him away from it.
A person can always return to school to finish a degree, but a multi million dollar NHL contract could be a once in a life time offer, not something you turn down over a few more classes, and another 40 games with your little brother.

That explains why Kessel just signed a 8 year deal in Toronto.
