The Calgary Flames return home to the Scotiabank Saddledome to take on the Los Angeles Kings.

Projected starters, not confirmed at the time of posting https://leftwinglock.com/starting-goalies:

Calgary Flames - Mike Smith (confirmed)
Los Angeles Kings – Jonathan Quick

The Flames are six points up on San Jose for first in the Pacific Division and Western Conference with seven games remaining in the regular season schedule.

While the Flames are first in the West, the Kings are the opposite sitting dead last, but no game is a given in the NHL. The Kings have won their last two, including a 4-2 victory over the San Jose Sharks.

Overall records:

Calgary Flames 47-21-7-101
Los Angeles Kings 27-39-8-62

The game will be broadcast on SportsNet West, so have your streaming devices ready.

Go Flames Go

Games like these are where you win or lose the division. San Jose lost theirs. Time for Calgary to win theirs and really dig in.

Keep the train rolling. Hopefully the top line can start to get into a groove on this home stand. We are going to need them to start producing consistantly again ASAP.

Hopefully a big win tonight and a SJ loss. The faster we clinch the West the faster we can start resting guys for the playoff run.

The Monahan line, and the PP really need to get going. If they continue to slump in to the playoffs, then I don't believe their gonna be effective at all during them, and that'll be a big issue since goals are gonna be tougher to come by in the playoffs on even strength. You have to be really opportunistic, and take advantage of the chances that come by.

As long as the first line holds their own against other top lines, I'm fine with it. We are getting great production from our 4th line and as when they're rolling, we have time for the others to pick it up.

Looking forward to a boisterous game against the Kings tonight!

If San Jose loses one game this week and the Flames go 3-0 they will clinch the division I believe prior to the head to head matchup on Sunday?

This would be a great game for the top line to bust out again. I predict a big night from those guys.

Hoping to see Rittich in net for this one.

What is our magic number then for beating SJ?

I’m getting interested in the wild card race now. Actually watching Colorado and Arizona games, yeesh.

This team has just put in such consistent efforts even if players go on little slumps it seems to me they are busting it every game.

Go Flames.

109 points. Or 4 wins, that’s with San Jose not losing a game the rest of the year.

Sportselect Info
Flames Win = 1.5
Overtime = 4.1
Kings Win = 3.75
Over 5.5 = 1.5
Under 5.5 = 1.95

Flames in the driver's seat to win the division, so hopefully they don't let off the gas and let these points slip away. I think the Kings haven't been as bad lately as their record might indicate. They still have good players at the key positions (Kopitar, Doughty, Quick) so the Flames will need to ensure they come out ready to play and not be looking ahead to Dallas. The Tkachuk - Doughty rivalry should ensure the team is fired up enough to come away with a 4-2 win. GFG!

Smith has been great the past couple games. Looks like they're giving him the chance to prove whether he is the guy, or not the guy to begin playoffs with.

Letting him take the ball and run with it a little.

Rittich's last start was quite impressive too, which is even more telling that they are starting Smith 3 in a row.

Strange Smith is starting again. I wonder if Ritter is a bit banged up and they want to rest him until the playoffs starts.
