Good examples of playofff success without a clear #1 goalie?
What are the best examples of teams that had epic playoff runs without a clear #1? Either shared duties through the playoffs or shared all season then one guy got hot for the playoff run? It's possible right?

Not many examples come to mind really, Maybe the 08/09 Wings when Osgood took charge over Hasek and won the cup!

I need a guy like you on my team.
You get pucks deep and win the battles.

Philly in 2010. Chicago with Niemi. Pittsburgh had some shaky playoff goaltending the last few years. Im probably missing a few.

We have a clear #1, his name is David Rittich. Starting swiss cheese in the playoffs guarantees pain and suffering.

2012-2013 Chicago won with Crawford.
In fact, the 2012-2013 Blackhawks would be similar in the sense that Crawford wasn't a proven starter, and they rotated between him and Ray Emery.
Emery was the veteran, and had better numbers, but Quinneville went with the future.
Could Rittich = Crawford, and Smith = Emery? I dunno.
The parallel isn't perfect as Rittich has a personality, and is fun to watch.

The parallel is definitely not perfect, as both Crawford and Emery were spectacular that year. While Emery was 17-1 that year, there was no doubt that Crawford was #1 and would be the playoff starter.

Chris Osbad and Niemi are prime examples of being able to win a SC without an elite goalie.

Having 2 x #1 goalies, although technically correct, doesn’t count.

You don’t believe the list would be longer if we included no name goalies who won the first round only?

Sure. If epic playoff success = Stanley Cup, you have a smaller set of examples.
If it means losing in conference final, you have a much larger group.

Wonderful. How much larger? What are the examples?
I wasn’t asking for reasoning, I was hoping for the actual examples.
If somebody feels there is value in distinguishing, feel free to make it worthwhile

At the time, it seemed as if they had an aging veteran whose game was starting to slip and their presumed future #1 who was just coming into his own. Neither was the consensus #1 as the playoffs started. Of course, things have changed a lot since then, since MAF discovered the fountain of youth in LV and Murray had all the injury problems.
