I voted anyone but Vegas.

Our squad needs a favorable matchup for the first round to give us momentum. Would prefer the Sharks and the Knights to battle it out as last man standing, as it is 100% likely that we play against one of the two in the second round (assuming we get 1st seed).

I would suggest a run off poll for who most people would prefer instead of Arizona. They are easily the team Flames fans prefer as I think they have the weakest goal tending of the bunch and Calgary smashed them in 3/4 meetings this year.

As for who would be the second most preferred team I would go with goal differential as the most important factor (alongside of goal tending) in predicting a playoff series. With that in mind I suppose Minnesota is my second choice.

Anyone but Vegas. They look so good right now n/w/s Subban in net. When MAF gets back look out.

And prefer not to see Dallas.

Goaltending + power play + penalty kill = playoff success

This is a tough question. I voted Arizona, because I believe they would be the easiest opponent to beat and help build confidence for the second round. But this is a sucker's vote. If we want to be a SC team, we should be ready to beat any opponent...

I voted Arizona because that would pretty much mean we win the division. Plus there is a reason there is a 30 point gap between the two teams. Beyond that I think Arizona is emptying the tank to get to where they are. There may be a little of that nothing to lose, but I think there is also going to be a team that has been in playoff mode for a couple months. Eventually all the injuries has to catch up to them, right?

You want as many favorable match ups as possible. Finish the series quickly, stay rested, move on.

Its admirable to want to battle it out over 7 games with a tough team right off the hop, but ill advised.

You basically hope to avoid the hot goalies in the first round if you can, which is an immediate no from me for all of Dallas, Minnesota and Vegas.

Not to fantasy hockey this thing, but I have Bishop on my team.

Guy single handily won me my playoff match up this year. And outside of Vasilevsky, he's the second ranked goalie overall in the league, despite playing 8 games less than Vasilevsky. And on top of that, Dallas is the second best defensive team in the league.

That's a goalie I want absolutely no part of as a Flames fan for a first round match up. Let the Jets deal with that land mine.

a more pressing question for me is...is James Neal going to be playoffs James Neal, or regular season James Neal?

Why is Arizona, one of the hottest teams in the west, winning?

Hasn't Minnesota lost in the first round for 4 years in a row or something?
Arizona has been much better than Minnesota in 2019. Kuemper is putting up stellar numbers.

The only reason I would pick Arizona over Minnesota is that Dubnyk could potentially steal a few games. But even then, Kuemper has been way better this year.

Yotes > Wild > Stars > Blues > Knights

Bring on the Yotes. We are superior in all facets, and besides Keller (and possibly OEL), no real gamebreakers. Also the Whiteout would be cool to see.

Wild. Boring team. Us in 5 max.

Stars. Flipflopped between them and the Blues, but I just think the Blues are much more complete, they're built a lot like us actually. Seguin and Benn have historically feasted on us since they've united but they have the worst defense and are I don't see them outlasting us in a shootout of a series.

And then the Knights. We can beat them too, but for the sake of this thread I'd like to see them last of these options.

Flames have pounded them 3 out of 4....4th was a back to back.

I hope they get Vegas. Not sure why everyone is afraid of them. I think we have a much better team and it will show in the playoffs.

Because that most likely means we lost the division. Having home ice locked up for the entirety of the Western playoffs would be ideal

Frankly I'd like to play an Eastern Conference team in the playoffs.

I voted Arizona mainly because of the goaltending. Smith has their number, they'd be the only team in the league I'd be comfortable seeing us go to him if Rittich falters.

I vote for Wild because they are in the Central time zone (and not as good as the Blues) so I might be able to get to sleep at a decent hour a few times in the playoffs.
