I do think we see a fairly energized team but might be too fairy tale-ish to expect the floodgates to just open so quickly.

Got to think the Flames come out flying without that ####### Peters behind the bench. I am thinking it is a 5-2 win for the good guys.

So if we lose it will be a kindler gentler happier loss.

But you are right , they have looked miserable, and Derek Wills just Tweeted Conroy is leading practice this am and they are having fun.

I'd imagine his system is the same since he was hired to work with Peters. Even if it wasn't he's had zero time to institute a new one.

Style - who knows. I don't get the sense he was the good cop to Peters' "bad cop" but I don't have that insider info.

I wonder if this is deliberately part of the repair process: Conroy has been delivered specific instructions to keep things light, fun, and get the players into a better head space.

To be fair he says Conroy is having a lot of fun and let's be honest, he can enjoy himself anywhere.

Also mentions Ward is just watching from the bench. Seems odd?

And practice was just "abruptly ended" Also odd.

I expect we're going to get pummeled
Okay. CaptainCruch, you are pessimistic.

Unfortunately, your theory is plausible. It could go either way. If there are current players on the team who dislike Peters they could feel like a weight was lifted off of their shoulders and they'll play much better tonight. Either they want to prove that they can play well without Peters to ensure that he does indeed get fired, or they know he is already fired and they feel better about playing for this team and new coach.

On the flipside, maybe there hasn't been an official announcement by game time and they feel uncertain about the team's future and/or are drained from the emotions and distractions of the past couple of days. What gives me hope that this isn't true is how they appeared to be loose and having fun at practice yesterday.

It is hard to imagine the Flames will play a good game with the circus surrounding them.

I was contemplating whether I should go to game tonight based on the poor performances of the last 2-3 weeks. I didn't think I would be all that entertained and didn't want to make the effort as I thought the Flames didn't care so why should I.

I ended up changing my mind and purchased tickets right after the Flyers game on Saturday.

Well, thanks to the sh**show from yesterday, I should at least be entertained.

Here's hoping the Flames can somehow put this matter on hold for a few hours and come out and build on the effort from Pittsburgh.

Go Flames Go!

I’m looking forward to the ATL after this game. Should be some good reading. Win it for Gaskel

Sabres pretty banged up.

Dahlin (concussion) and Sobotka (knee surgery) out indefinitely. Okposo (concussion), Thompson (upper body), McCabe (undisclosed) all out as well.

If anything I think this circus takes the focus off the team and their poor results. It's a pretty tried and true method for a coach to stir up controversy to take heat off the team when needed.

I am oddly optimistic about this team right now. Got a chance for a reset.

I'd consider this team at rock bottom so nowhere else to go but up
