Thanks Bingo. Any thoughts on the Pens having too many men just before the OT winner? Seemed obvious to me at the time, and verified by the images posted in the PGT.

Flames continue with their metamorphosis to a grittier playoff ready team.

They outhit the Penguins (the team with the 2nd most hits in the league) 30-29. The Flames were led by Lucic with 5 hits and Hanifin and Mangiapane with 4 each.

Even more important is that there were only 3 Flames with 0 hits Gaudreau, Ryan and Dube.

Does Mangiapane falling down when other teams players just happen to be in the way really count?

Are hits still counted by home ice officials? If so, is it a coincidence that the Pens typically have a high hit count and the Flames get a higher count when playing in the building?

Look if the Flames are adding some bite I'll be as happy as anyone, but that just isn't the game I'm seeing from the Flames.

Lucic is doing a good job of finishing his checks, but the team for the most part isn't all that physical. They weren't two weeks ago. They're not now.

Lucic is supposed to have a strong personality/presence. That along with a nuclear option if someone doesn't like the Flames hitting them could make some of the smaller Flames willing to play a more physical game.

The extra hitting the Flames are doing is just making them a normal NHL team. They were a lab experiment last season seeing how good a team could possibly be while avoiding physical contact.

So you are seeing a more physical team and it's noticeable? Honestly? I remember one notable hit last night, and it was from Lucic in the first period.

Lindholm wrecked someone, I forget who. But TBF it was more like he skated into him, and then through him.
