I must be the only one that see's this as excessive, crosschecks like that happen every playoff game without even a penalty
No, they don't. That second cross check that knocked him out for 4-6 weeks definitely does not happen every playoff game. The first one, I might agree with, the second one was definitely excessive and cheap, and from behind. The league really dropped the ball on this one. A phone hearing for that play is ridiculous. And they didn't even give him the maximum amount of games they could have. Just a really poor job by the league, there's really no incentive for players not to make that play once in while if it's going to knock a rival player out for a month or two.

It's just one of those things that unfortunately will have to be dealt with yet again by the players on the ice. We all wish that enforcers were unnecessary, but plays like this show yet again that their role will never fully go away.
Bortuzzo needs his face pounded by someone. That's the only way to curb his behavior because clearly the league doesn't consider it to be too serious.
I would have given him 10-15 games. The league gave him 4. Absolute bull####.
However, in years past there wouldn't even be a suspension, so....progress I guess?

And if they actually cared about player safety they'd do something about all of them. There's no reason for hits like that, it adds nothing to the game.

Binnington cross checked him a third time, nothing?
Oh okay. So you’re doing this just to do it. Binnington is relevant now that a bunch of people disagree with how violent that cross check was? But but Binnington? What the heck are you on about?
To me the awesome part is bortozzo looks over at the ref, put the palms of his glove up and appears to say what, then he goes back and finishes him with the second cross check
Good grief, how is this not 10 games
