"Palpatine was not given a first name in any canonical or "Star Wars Legends" sources until 2014, when the character's first name—Sheev—was revealed in the novel Tarkin, written by James Luceno."
From there I think Reddit picked it up and popularized it on r/prequelmemes
In Darth Plageuis they had a early conversation between the Sith Lord and a young Palpatine where Palps did say he had a first name and chose not to honor it because it was given to him by a father who hated him. He also said something to the effect that he chose to go simply by Palpatine because it he believed it to show that he was the best member of a dysfunctional family.
Even at a young age Palpatine was an ahole.

The Rise of Skywalker Will Introduce New Force Powers
Quote:
The Rise of Skywalker will reveal previously unknown Force powers. “It was really important that we not just redo the things you’ve seen, but add new elements—which we knew will infuriate some people and thrill others,” Abrams told Vanity Fair.
The Last Jedi was an abomination of a film. It wasn't just an awful Star Wars movie, it was an awful movie, period.
...and here I am, excited as can be. December 19th I'm at the Flames/Habs game, and then heading out to see The Rise of Skywalker right after the game. I'm excited.

You know what, I liked the Force with fairly simple powers, you can lift and throw things with your mind. Some can have Premonitions (Premonitions you say?). You're faster then a ordinary person and react faster.
then the EU started using the force to solve every cornered story. Look a Super Star Destroyer has come to kill us, we'll fling it half way across the galaxy with our minds. One Sith Lord made a Star explode. When you have something like the Force its too easy to use it as a solution to every problem.

After The Last Jedi, I just have zero excitement to see this movie. Definitely putting it in the "zero other things to do on a rainy December/January afternoon" pile.

Which is so sad.
Episode VII, VIII & IX should have been the crescendo and epic sign off of the Skywalker saga with Luke being the ultimate hero in movie history and defeating a villain who was 100x badder than the Emperor.
Alas, we don't even have a coherent story arc across the 3 movies or an identifiable villain. Sad.

You can thank Rian Johnson and Kathleen Kennedy for that.
He's a bloody blithering buffoon of a writer. How do you get to part 8 of a 9 movie saga and then just go "ohh, time to flip the script and make everything meaningless - I'm Mary Poppins ya'll"
...and again, how do you say "we're going to make a trilogy" without a planned story for 3 movies? Same needless garbage that the studio did to Peter Jackson with The Hobbit movies.
Did they ever explain why they left Luke with the same last name as his father? Seems careless. I mean, it worked out in the end, but really it was courting disaster if Vader ever checked the Tattoine phone book. Unless they left his name the same as protection - like, don't mess with Vader's kid on Tattoine?
