This. Single point of access into Evanston which is exploding, if poop hits the fan on Beddington/Symons Valley, a whole community is cut off.

Gotcha - I forget how big that community really is, and how much of a clusterf*** symons valley can be some mornings.

If there's going to be increased traffic on 16th Ave, I hope they would addressed the NB-WB merge issue at both 52nd and 36th street, since 16th ave gets jammed up at rush hour as it is now because the merge is far too short.
The solution is simple though. Simply just extend the merge lane and push the SB-WB merge lane further, or even turn it to a new lane that turns off to the next intersection since it'll be close enough to it at the point. Same deal could be done for the EB merge lane at 36 Street intersection.

Yeah the other thing there is that 16 Ave needs to be 6 lanes from Stoney to Deerfoot, and a proper interchange at 16 Ave/Deerfoot will cost a few hundred millions. All that's long term. A few pics from CTV:

They said on CBC radio that it would be open for the rush hour this afternoon. I'd guess 3pm.

11am, not open at SB Stoney @ Peigan.
The traffic lights coming from NB Stoney turning onto WB Peigan are not rotated into place.

Am I wrong to find it ridiculous that they won't give times?

If they gave you a time do you think they would meet it?
Also if they say it is going to be 3:00pm exactly you are going to get a bunch of idiots lining up at 2:45 and just causing traffic issues in the area.
